I got mine as well and while I will let you fellow RFD'ers decide for yourself, my opinion is, with the exception of the foodsaver coupon, the Ben-Q projector coupon and the Garmin coupon this was not one of Costco's better efforts. A lot of repeat stuff.

Mine Autumn Coupon book came in the mail today. Nothing really jumped out at me. But there is a coupon for $15 off the WD 250GB Portable HD. I think I saw someone post that this is going for $69.99. Minus $15. Can that get any cheaper? ;)

there's a few things i like.. the fertilizer, the tv stand (the main part of it) seem interesting.. the hardwood may be a good deal, too.. i bought a lot of my laminate flooring from Costco with their coupons and i love it. I find their nicest stuff is what they don't advertise.. i got some really nice furniture in-store that dropped in price w/o warning.. so i try and get there once a week, just in case.

The central vac unit goes on for $200 off every year at this time like clockwork. There's been some threads here on RFD about it in the past. At $480 after coupon I think it is tough to beat.
You get the unit, a lot of accessories (including a power head) and an installation kit consisting of a bunch of pipe, elbows, and as well as a vacpan. The unit comes with a muffler and does not need to be vented outside (I put mine in the garage).
I bought it last year with the coupon and couldn't be happier. It replaced our upright vacuum cleaner (a good one at that) and I don't think it is even comparable. If you're considering a central vac, I'd recomend this one.

Thanks for the feedback because there is absolutely no info on this model anywhere on the web...kind of hard to believe and even on the official hoover site very little detail...glad it has a muffler and power...the vac pan seems pretty ingenious...is that the thing that you just sweep into...if so is it hard to install that and where typically does one install that...at the base of the kitchen cabinet?...thanks...will pick up during coupon time....

so,... looking at the memory foam mattresses
there's the "Elite" model on sale now ($80 off) which is 8" of base foam and 4" memory foam
and the "Fresh Dreams" in the post above on sale at $100 off. It's 7" base foam, 4" of memory foam and 1" of "Nutratemp"
looking at the king size, the elite would be $650 and the "Fresh Dreams" would be $800
any comments on the differences of these 2 mattresses? Seems $150 is a lot for a more temperature controlled top. I have a 2.5" topper now and don't believe I have any heat problems
thanks!

So, after looking thru these a bit closer...3 things of note...firstly, of course the WD Passport...second, my wife got me that TRUE SEAT TASK CHAIR that is $20 off 2 years ago at Xmas...I still love it...it hold my big ass just fine!
And thirdly, I am thinking that Treadmill will be my wife's xmas gift this year...seems like a good deal with the LCD built...anyone have any comments on it?

I have the original Tempur mattress and also sleep on a normal spring matress with a 2.5" topper (although the topper's pretty old now) and can tell you that I definitely feel the heat with the Tempur but not with the topper (even when it was new) so it's not a reliable indicator.
I think whether or not the "Nutratemp" feature is worth it to you will depend on whether or not you're a "sweater" or a "furnace" when you sleep. My spouse is not a furnace and finds the Tempur just fine whereas I am a furnace and always wake up with a hot bed, and sometimes wake up because of the heat (I think).
FYI, I've never tried the "Fresh Dreams" and don't know if the cooling layer actually works or how the Novaforms would compare to Tempurs:D

The $50 off the Roomba looks decent. At least for the 570. The garge door opener realy sucks. I don't know why the belt drive garage door openers are such a rip off in Canada though. That price is ridiculous

Not sure if my math is correct, but $99.99-$15 is 84.99 not 74.99. Still a decent deal at $84.99.

I read an article in the papers a few months ago that there are only a handful of coil spring mattress manufacturers in North America so even the cheaper models should be almost as good the most expensive ones. Not sure if I read this article from the National Post or G&M.

Coupon books: For those without coupon books, you can pick one up at the membership desk. While at the membership desk, you can ask them to add you to their mailing list for future books. Note: if you're an add-on member to a business membership (like myself), only the primary cardholder will receive the book. The other members will have to just ask for the book.
Multiple bags of fertilizer: The fine print on the back of each coupon will tell you exactly what the quantity limits are for the coupon. If the limit is one and you need two, just ask for another book and go through the checkout process twice.
Fall book: the deals in this fall book are ho-hum! :(

I need a mattress as well, but I'm really unsure of just looking at a matress on their website and buying it with the coupon, when I could be unhappy with it, and missed out on a deal with the right mattress.
How do we figure out which mattress is similar in other stores to test out before we buy at Costco? Write down the stats for each mattress and go in to a mattress store?

If the rough in is done, all you need to do, is connect two wires, connect the vacuum tubes together and plug the unit into the wall. Just a few minutes work.
Real easy.

Noticed the Benq projector is on costco.ca for $2300 after $500 mail in rebate. The rebate offer is good for purchases between Aug 1 and Sept 30 while the costco $800 off coupon starts on Sept 15. Anyone think it might be possible to combine these offers??

If the rough in is done, all you need to do, is connect two wires, connect the vacuum tubes together and plug the unit into the wall. Just a few minutes work.
Real easy.
That's what I thought too! It will vary by builder but my builder just left it wherever it ended up in the basement (a couple of feet below the main floor outlet). The 2nd floor was connected down to this as well thankfully and the pass-through to the garage was already in place. Still pretty easy. But between this run and my Vacpan i almost used the entire installation kit (and it seemed like a lot of pipe they included).
How do you install the vacpan?
Is there an extra inlet on the unit?
I tied my vacpan into the line running from my other outlets to the unit. I think this is sort of the standard way to do it - with just one connection at the unit.
My unit does have 3 inlets on it though. There's 1 on each side to accept standard pipe and then there is the flapped on on the front that accepts the accessory hose (I suppose if you want to vacuum your car in the garage or something). So, i think you could run directly to the additional inlet on the other side if you wanted.
Aside from those 3 holes there is 1 for the exhaust. The bracket is easy to install onto a wall and then the entire unit just hangs off of the bracket. Very easy to take off/on when needed (I recently painted my garage and just disconnected the pipe and lifted it off). The bottom is also easy to unlatch for emptying. Should be a fairly infrequent task given the size of the bin.

doesn't say anything about a muffler though, or an installation kit.
the muffler isn't too special and is probably included (though not pictured or described so who knows). Curiously, the product recomendation on the side included this (http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product.aspx?whse=BCCA&topnav=&prodid=10297624&ec=BCCA-EC11266-ProdID10314983&pos=0F&lang=en-CA) for $77.
http://content.costco.ca/Images/Content/Product/120855c.jpg
That looks just like the kit that was included with it when I purchased. It does indeed seem that it is now a separate item (the kit was a box inside of the larger box).
The hoover inlet covers that were included seemed to be leagues ahead in quality of what I saw in the big box stores (just seemed heavier/thicker/sturdier/whatever). I was glad to use them with the exception of the embossed "Hoover" logo on them.

Hey, I used to go to Costco when I was younger to buy video games... are PC/PS games still a big thing at Costco?
I don't think PC games are a big thing there, but they do sell them. Same goes for console games, etc. costco doesn't really undercut the competition too much in this arena though - maybe $5 on a console game. However, Costco usually does bundles (consoles, controller, games, etc) that can be pretty well priced.

Here it is in the wild (my garage). Mine, purchased in the last 6 months from Costco (last time it was discounted) actually says "Platinum" on it instead of "Windtunnel". I have no doubt, however, that it is the same vacuum.

When the Hoover central vac goes on sale (22nd I believe) does anyone know if the price online will be $479? Will there be a place to enter the coupon online?
Sometimes they charge more online because you get free delivery.

I was choked when I looked at the book yesterday.
I just bought the Scott's last weekend.
Do I need my receipt or will they be able to pull it up in the system?
How much is the fertilizer before coupon?
Is the fertilizer that you bought the "plus 2 with weed control"?
Or is it just regular wintercare fertilizer?
Deemo
Sep 8th, 2008, 12:15 PM
I will have to check but I think it was just plain Wintercare.
I have had a devil of a time finding any Scott's with weed control built in.
I think I would have noticed as a result.
Too much pressure from bad PR I think.
Did Costco carry both?

I bought it a few months ago for a slighter higher price. Not hard to install, you just need to remove any existing shower hardware so you have only two short stubs. Good instructions but bit awkward for one person. Real nice shower.

Its been posted in several threads, not everyone gets the books, whether they're supposed to or not. If you didn't get one, go to costco customer service and ask them...I'm sure they have some on hand, and they will also know how many mailings they do a year.

Just to let ya know.

+1 I would like to know if I can buy the products advertised on the discount book online when the sale starts instead of making my way to the store.
And I noticed on the site..for products they say the price (shipping included)..does that mean the in store price is cheaper since no shipping is required?

if i go to the customer service desk with my receipt and the coupon, will they be able to refund it to me even thought it is a costco.ca sale only? i'd rather not lug them there and threaten to return them, wanted to put them up this weekend, sale starts on the 15th

Most coupons are for instore. Look at the upper right hand corner of the coupon for the particular item you are looking to buy, it will say if it is also available at costco.ca or only available costco.ca, otherwise it is in store only.

Well, the items on sales have started as of Sept 8 Monday. I went to the new Burnaby Store to ask for one since I am not an Executive member. Plus I am an associated member so I always have to ask for one at the customer services. They said they didn't have it. They just mailed them few days ago and should be in the mail this week, all kind of craps!
The fact is you get the single sheet of coupon printout when you walk in the store. They are same items from the book.
I am guessing this time they won't have the extra book to give out. You will just get the same things from the handout at the entrance.
Overall, there is nothing to look forward to this time.

You should have told them to look harder. Each store should have lots of boxes of the coupon books available.

There is only a rare occurence where the book items are on the handout sheet. Make sure when you go to a store next time that you get a book. If they again say they don't have them, go speak to a manager and get them on it.

We joined in February (had been members before but hadn't been for about 5 years) and got a coupon book in the mail in June maybe. Can't remember. I think it came a month before the coupon dates started. Have to go to Costco tomorrow so will ask for the new book. We actually upgraded to ex mem this summer. We've got two kids so have been doing bulk buying there. Though I almost fainted when they were showing how much we had spent. But we haven't been going as much to the stores since we were buying at Costco.

Yes, I've found the online items to be cheaper in the store... but not all products can be found in-store.

of note, the Vacuum isn't the same as previous.
The canister looks the same on the outside, but NOTE: this one is the WINDTUNNEL version
Previous one that they were selling on coupon, and I bought, and now will return...( i got this new one...) is the Platinum model.
Prior to that there was one other i think it was called "hush"
??
This new one looks like a nicer powerhead also..with a transparent design in the front/top of powerhead, and an angled brush....
I couldn't find much info on the WINDTUNNEL central vacuum online, but here's what I see is the powerhead anyway..i have to open the box still, probably tomorrow :)

So does the Powerbrush on the version Costco is selling use these direct connect plates that provide the suction as well as the high and low voltages or is it the standard connecting Pigtail model (S5686 per the link above)? My house is not roughed in with power (low and/or high) at the outlet. There is only a wall plug next to it.

No, the whole box does not fit inside a 4 door sedan, BUT, inside the big box are 3 smaller boxes and these all will fit in pretty much any car that can hold 2 golf bags. Had to do that myself and folded up the larger box and brought it home with me as well.

I purchased the central vac and i'm trying to install it now but i'm having some problems. I don't know if i'm missing instructions or parts.
1) Did your system include instructions on the central vac unit? I have instructions for the installation kit and the accessory kit but no instructions on the power unit.
2) Did your's included a mounting bracket? There is a connecting piece on the unit itself with a screw but I thought there would be a piece to connect to the wall.
3) the power unit has 3 outlets, I think the top outlet is the exhaust and one connects to the tubing system in the house. what is the extra one for?
It seems like i'm having a lot of problems with the unit itself that's why i think i'm missing the instructions. can anyone help? THanks.

All you questions are answered once you open up the bin at the bottom of the actual vac.
1. Instructions in the collection bin of the vac
2. Mounting bracket in the collection bin of the vac
3. Plug provided for one of the bottom outlets in the collection bin of the vac. It's there for greater flexibility for installation.
I installed it a couple of days ago, and it's very powerful.
