Does anyone have any info on the Sharp 32"?
The model number doesn't come up on the Sharp website.
Also, the BB flyer lists 720P whereas the website has it at 1080P....not like it matters anyway.

the 32" Sharp is probably a special unit for Bestbuy, much like the Toshiba D3 HD DVD players they got last Christmas.... then there are no price matches.

Its a misleading practice I noticed on BB's website a little while ago. They've been listing a number of models as '1080P', but they're just 720P televisions which accept 1080P input (ie, Downscaling.)

I called the 1-800 number this morning before I went to Future Shop to make sure they had to price Match. The rep on the phone told me that as long as Calgary Future Shops have them in stock, they have to price match everywhere in Canada (the 4 stores in Calagary that I selected all had them IN STOCK). I then printed out the add (Calgary Flyer) and took it in with me. Of course the sales guy had to check with the manager first, but I told him that I called the 1-800 number and the rep told me that THEY had to price match. When he came back he said no problem and sold them both to me for $1,499 each. I had a hard time last week with the Web only deal but this is an in store deal EVEN IF IT'S A CALGARY ONLY DEAL it doesn't matter. Read the price match language on the website under Store Policies. It clearly says that they have to price match "ANYWHERE IN CANADA". Hope this helps.

I checked it out pretty good today when I went down... not bad for the price but there are some limitations.
Definitely not 1080P, and it wasn't from the Aquos line (mentioned nowhere on TV or the Box). It didn't seem to have a digital tuner in it either which may or may not matter to people.
With the digital tuner on the one I have I can pick up the music and HD PBS by just connecting the coax. Once you start getting more digital channels in the future you should be able to get HD programming without buying a HD Box I'm assuming.
I went to Northland here in Calgary, and they only had it hooked up to this Bose demo which looked like crap. After waiting for help for 10 minutes I just picked the demo TV up and moved it to the back of the store to hook it up to the HD inputs running on the other TV's. Picture looked horrible, and wouldn't even accept the HD which is why I'm thinking there is no digital tuner.
Probably some leftover stock from the US that they can't sell because of the lack of tuner... if you have a HD cable box or are just playing games it could be a good deal.
Still had lots left an hour ago.

Can the thread owner or anyone in Calgary please post copies of the flyer with the date on them? Fs won't pricematch because the date is missing. I tried calling EVERY cagary store only one picked up, and the silly customer service woman dropped my call 3 times and transferred me to the wrong department once. At about 2-3 mins a call i don't want to know what my long distance cell phone cost is but it's eating into my profits.

Hi everyone,
Successfully price matched the 5080 at the Edmonton South FS. I just brought in a copy of the flyer printed from the links here. The customer service rep was confused at first because the price was not showing up on her system, but she called a Calgary FS to confirm the price. She asked to keep the copy of the flyer (presumably in case anyone else shows up for a price match).
Good luck guys.
Thanks OP!

OMG!!!! There is still hope for FS managers!! I called all stores in the GTA today to check on stock and finally found one with stock (2) that would do a PM with the Calgary price.. By the time I got there someone had already scouped the other one ( I suspect an employee..))Mine was there all ready to go on the cart with my name on it.. Call around and check for stock and then ask to speak to a manager and have him call a Cow town store to verify price and stock.. I will scan my reciept later and post to try and give the ontfolks some ammo to help sway managers with stock to PM... Now off to unpack this beast and start the breakin .... :cheesygri
Dont lose hope those who are still on the hunt.. I have been chasing this TV for over 2 weeks but refused to pay anymore than the 1599 when I couldn't get it matched I waited and I'm glad I did because in the end I got it for$100 cheaper than the price I was willing to pay... 1499 in toronto.
the sales guy was really nice and of course pushed the extended warranty...he just needed to see the calgary flyer online...he was going to put the 5080 in for 1349 if i took the 4 yr warranty but i passed on it.
anyone think the 4 yr warranty is worth $300? (from 449? if you account for the tv going from 1499 to 1349...). The Mac warranty is 180?

Plasma and LCD tvs have about a 3% failure rate... IMO, no one should ever purchase an extended warranty for a flat panel tv.
If you're really paranoid about it, purchase the tv with a credit card that doubles the manufacturer's warranty.

Hey Guys,
Anyone knows if this would fit a normal sized sedan? I know the box will be huge, but I plan to take it out of the box and put it at the back seat ... think its possible or TV's dimensions don't allow for this?
If this isn't possible then am not sure how people are getting it from store to their house .. unless they all have SUVs here!!

I think that is more for stores, or during shipment, as the sides of the box aren't solid so placing something heavy on it risks going through.

i have tried to recover under a CC warranty and also done the FS PSP on now 2 digital cameras. let me tell you, if you think claiming under the FS PSP is hard work, good luck with your CC company. i purchased the PSP. i guess i could return the PSP before 30 days is up.

THANK YOU Formula1 for posting the scans of the flyers. I sent a copy of the flyer to the FS web support address, and they're going to credit me back for the $100.. looks like my Kuro will only have cost me $1499.. HOT!
Edit: someone wanted to know how I got the price protection on this one. Here's what I did:
1. emailed FS web support (websupportcan@futureshop.com) on sept 5th at 9pm. I included the scan of the flyer, and indicated that 4 different Calgary stores had stock.
2. I asked nicely if they would be able to price guarantee the $100 difference.
Note that I'm in Alberta, so it is possible that they honored the price because I could have technically returned my order and bought it in Calgary. I'm not sure why anyone else would have their PM denied, but I got a response a few days later from web support saying, "Thank you for inquiring about our Lowest Price Guarantee policy. We have discounted your order to the appropriate amount. Your card will be credited within five to seven business days."
Guess it was a lucky break, but I'm very satisfied .. this almost covered the GST and shipping costs!
