I've read many threads on CI insurance on this forum, but I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good one, or ones that I should stay away from? I am looking for a comprehensive one that covers more than just Cancer. The last thing I want is having to go through a lot of difficulties if I ever need to make a claim.

Thanks a lot.

Claims will be difficult. From what I have heard from people who try make claims, the companies are highly reluctant to pay out.

Thanks for the suggestions wheel. Actually I don't have a very clear understanding on the differences between CI and disability insurances. It looks to me that diability insurance is only good if you have been employed before you became diabled and they'd insure your earning or something like that.

Anyway, I do need/want a CI so I'd like to buy one from a reputable company. The disabilily insurance I have at work is really crappy, and I don't think I will stay at a job forever so that wouldn't help.

Cheers.

CI is one of the most expensive, and hence profitable products that insurance companies sell. Do some good hard research on it before throwing in your money,

Thanks again mr_raider and wheel!

Wheel that's a very detailed explanation, and I do agree with you. No I definitely won't rely on the one provided at work, and people do change jobs from time to time too so it's good to have your own anyway.

I am looking at Great Westlife and RBC for diability insurance at the moment. Any recommendation?

Take the money you would have spent on CI and invest it instead or put it towards better DI coverage.

The last thing I want is having to go through a lot of difficulties if I ever need to make a claim.

Call me cynical today, but I'll make one of those rant-style sweeping generalizations, from my (perhaps) limited experience with different kinds of insurance in general. It seems "difficulty" is all I ever get when trying to make a claim. I can't ever recall a payout of even minor amounts being smooth.
