Just saw that Agincourt Wal-Mart (Kennedy and Sheppard) has 40 pack of Maxell Alkaline batteries for only $7.88! (Normally 9.99 or so)

Don't buy, absolute garbage...my analog clock stopped within 2 months using them LOL. I used up all 48 in 2 months. They are typical junk Walmart/Sam's often carry....consider yourself warned :D

+1 These could barely power a travel Alarm clock for over a few months. Forget about them in a flashlight or a remote.

just picked up a 36 pack of AAAs for 7.90.

Also the 48 AA's are available for the same price as well.

Been using them for 2 years, never had a problem, they run fine... even in things that use constant power, such as kids toys... very useful and cheap for infant toys. Also use the Rayovac from Walmart, with same positive results. I like that the Maxell are packaged in 4's... I included a pack or 2 with gifts we gave at Christmas that required batteries!

Never used the Maxell's before, but I did buy a 24 pack of Ray o Vac a couple of years ago at Walmart for $3.97. They seem to work OK.

As an FYI, Costco has an internal Duracell rebate in store on right now. I just bought a 16 pack of Duracell Ultra Digital AA for $11.99 after rebate.

No bad experiences with the Maxell branded AAs ... they have been good to me.

I really like the ones that are packaged in 4xAA within the whole casing. I loved them. Very convenient and keeps them all together.

However, the last batch I bought did not have it that way so you may have to hunt them down. Well worth it, IMO.

They've been very nice to me. We use them to power our Keyboards, Mice and Remotes around the house, can't go wrong.

I used them for a couple clocks in my house, and the clocks stop in a week or 2.

That's strange ... perhaps a bad batch?

Except that you'd be much better off using rechargeables for them.

Maxell is much better. Panasonic in Dollarama (the blue/black ones with white letters) is not alkaline - those batteries will die in aproximately 1/2 or 1/3 the time that Maxell will.

Not these ones, the Maxells in question don't even outlast cheap non-alkaline batteries came with toys/remotes etc.

I've had Maxell 2 x 50 AA for a few years, running great.

Are these good or are these not? I used to see them all the time at SQ WallyWorld. I was at Sherway WallyWorld this weekend and they never heard of them. That's WallyWorld inconsistency for you.

I loved the 48 packs of TheSource batteries. They lasted very long - about 8-10x longer then the dollaramas, and in par with Energizer, but it seems they discontinued the $9.99 48 packs. They get like 40 hours of play on the Wii.

Need to find something comparable.

which ones would be better Maxwell at Walmart or Kirkland at Costco?

which ones would be better Maxwell at Walmart or Kirkland at Costco?

They would both be good.

Actually, I would probably choose the Kirkland (as Costco branded products are typically very high quality, rebranded name products) The Kirkland batts are probably rebranded Energizers or Duracells or other.

However, they are significantly more expensive per battery compared to the MIC Maxells you would find at Wallyworld. So, it's up to you. Even if the Maxells are 70% the battery of the Kirklands ... what they lack in total capacity/quality may be made up by sheer numbers/price per unit.

40 Kirkland batts would be ~ 15-17 bucks, sometimes they go on sale to 12-13 bucks (iirc). 40 Maxells at Walmart is significantly less.

It's up to the consumer to make their decision.

+1, based on reg. price
Quality: Duracell>kirkland>Memorix>maxell
Price: Duracell>kirkland>Memorix>maxell

Notice the obvious pattern. Someone asked which is better, obviously answer is do you need more performace/cost(Maxell) or performance/battery(Duracell).

These are great for the price. Use them for the wiimotes, wireless mouse, and electric toothbrushes. They hold their charge longer if you keep them in the fridge or even the freezer. They've lasted longer than six months already.
