Wasn't sure where else to post this...

I'm looking for a good sailing school.

I'm located in Northern GTA, drivable distance from both Lake Ontario or Georgian Bay.

I prefer a school which uses keelboats, not dingies for instruction...

Any recommendations or advise?

Thanks, I checked it out.

Their Shark Program is very interesting. With CYA Basic Cruising certification, they allow you to sign out a keelboat!

However all their lessons are dinghy sailing... They don't offer keelboat cruising courses like CYA Basic Cruising, which is what I need.

Ya it sounds like you need the CYA to rent the keelboats, makes sense. If I remember correctly the shark program was in the thousands.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

A bit pricy though, $650 for CYP Basic Cruising course

Have you ever tried sailing before? I highly suggest you learn in a digny first just to get the feel for the boat. If you make a mistake on a laser you'll know right away and you'll learn how to correct it much quicker than on a keelboat.

I suggest trying the first few lessons on a laser then get to a keelboat. Most CYA lessons on keelboats are not cheap. The CYA certs are only really useful if your going to be chartering. If you want more courses your local CYA division will have must less expensive winter text book courses where you can learn a lot.

Some clubs allow to sign out a keelboat with CYA Basic Cruising (after joining the club).
