I bought a laptop on clearance from Staples tonight, pretty good deal. It's an HP DV6355CA, if that's of any relevance to anyone.

I got it home, booted it up and got the ol' no operating system found warning. So, being on clearance, I assumed it had been returned, and someone had just wiped it. I popped in my Windows cd and went to install, but.. no hard drive was present?!

I powered down, flipped it over and unscrewed the cover over the hard drive, to find that there in fact was a drive there, but it's just sitting there. There's nothing connecting it to the motherboard. The boards connector is right there, but it doesn't clip in or anything.

Anyone have any insight into this?
Do you think Staples can/will fix this for me, or should I just return it.

Edit: After some very unhelpful chatting with HP, I've discovered that my laptop has the wrong type of hard drive in it, and is missing a bracket to hold it. They let me know that any local store would be happy to charge me to replace these parts for me. I guess I'll have to see what Staples has to say.

I would return it.
They most likely do not have that missing part in stock. Why go through the hassle of having them send it off for repair? Possibly even blaming you for the missing component.
