Hi everyone,
I saw this pc at Futureshop, and I'm wondering if it's any good for a HTPC?

I was at the store, and it has the following specs:
AMD Phenom X3 8450
3 GB
500 GB HD
NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE (256MB)
Thanks in advance!

you can go with a cheaper system, that is a little overkill

This is only $550... Is that overkill? What specs would be sufficient then, and what prices should I be paying?
Thanks.

What are planning to watch/do with your HTPC ?
You will need to add a video card to that system. It does not have DVI/HDMI port for your TV ... No TV tuner either ...
You can take a look at some of the HP media-center systems at BB/FS .... Like this one ... http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10100534&catid=20217&logon=&langid=EN

Slow down...that specs is a little too much for HTPC. But if you are going to play some games too then go for it otherwise you won't maximize the power of your machine.

Sloooooow down....
There is nothing overkill in the specs, Nvidia 9300 - I have no idea what it is, if it fully supports H264/VC1 (PureVideo HD) then it's all good. It doesn't sound like a gaming card.
There are other attributes missing - no digital audio onboard which is a big no no...the tower case is unmistakenly a computer, no remote or wireless input devices. A TV card would be nice. The price is hefty as well.
.....It's a computer.
