You know the cable on the mainboard that connects to the screen? is there any adapter i could buy to hook it up to a lcd monitor. the monitor on my laptop is cracked. And i can't switch to t.v mode even pressing the buttons, probally driver not installed propperly.
And is that cable used for other laptop monitors too? or i have to buy a dell monitor because that cable is made for dell laptops only?

From what I have seen, that is a proprietary cable, its not sending the video data in the same format that would be sent over a VGA cable, it would be in a line. I've never heard of an adapter that would do that. You'd have to use the VGA on the side of your laptop (if it has it, it should, but i've seen ones that dont)

pictures would really help ....
try phoning dell and scrounge around for dell replacement parts (lcd shouldn't be too much to replace if youre willing to spend the money...)
never heard of an adapter before...

Photos & Model number helps us figure out a solution...(there's no such thing as a Dell "specific" LCD-Laptop cable, VGA-VGA is universal).
If you're in Toronto I may lend a hand so PM me.
