Hi all,
thought I'd ask if someone was in my shoes and what would you do.
Ok, finsihed high school and grduated in FL. Started my university and completed 2 years there in Tampa, FL and moved to TO back in 06.
Problem, I can't really transfer all or part of my credits from US. Tried U of T and would only give me 6 credits out of 60 :(
I've been taking couple of continuing education courses to keep me busy and learn something as I go.
My only option I guess is to either: (1) take courses online through my univerity in Fl or (2) go back and finish school there.
but i hate taking online courses and will have to wait to have my books shipped here.
So U of T offered me to re-start here which doesn't make any sense for now.
What would you do and if you can offer any advice :)
Thanks yall :)

Just re-start man. You are being offered a chance to go to school here, probably for much less than the states. If you are THAT concerned, just take mad summer courses!

Yeah I was actually pleased to be accepted at U of T and the only thing kept me not re-starting was the credits for only 2 courses from the 2 years I spent in Fl.

Well..I moved here in Sept 06 so technically I had to wait till '07 and it wasn't really feasible to start right away as I was new here et.c
They sent me a letter to enroll for this year from U of T..... I guess better late then NEVER....
I should just do it. Is there a time frame you have to complete your bachelors if taking Part Time courses?

how many credits are they rejecting?
6/60 doesnt make sense.. and you spent 2yrs in uni?
unless each couse is like 5credits worth?
here each course per semester is 1/2 credit.
6credits is about 1yr worth.. so I think they transfered everything over?
1/2 credit x 6 courses = 3credits

Hi mendesb,
each course was 3 credits ...but if I rememebr when I wanted to tranfer, they only gave me credits for 2 courses here + 1/2 credit for another one. Basically they said our curiculum is way different and more strict then US school...
I should probably go back and get them re-assessed if they let me .

Argue with them and say you already know the material of the courses you'll be retaking. I'm sure there's some lee-way here.

I had a friend who came to U of T after going to some university in Florida (she had only done one year, I think) and she basically had to start all over again.
If you aren't picky about which university you go to, you could possibly ask around to see if other places may accept your credits (York or Ryerson, maybe?). Honestly though, I think it really depends on which degree you want to get. Is going to U of T integral to the overall plan?
