I didn't really like Atkinson... I was there for my first year. The classes are all majority at afternoon or evening, not my type of thing. Also commuting was a hassle for me... (nothing to do with the education, but made me not want to go sometimes). The profs were cool and good (Some) and same with the students (Some), but Atkinson students don't really have their own building and hang out area makes it difficult to feel that you have your own place/people.

From my experience with the advisors and office... Some are really bad and tells you to get lost. If I wasn't accepted to Ryerson, I would of been screwed since I applied to change major like in Feb and they said I could'nt like last month...although I have the marks and everything.

Doesn't really matter if you're doing it at Ryerson or York. Although I will admit the reputation of Atkinson is slightly better than Ryerson thanks to Schulich of course.

I rejected Ryerson because the BAS offered was better as it had same professors and same course load as that of Schulich.

You could either do your BAS or BComm, doesn't matter as long as you specialize.

But if you are looking for a bigger better campus which is more interactive and not depressing, then York is your best bet.

Ryerson Business is actually catching on fire and even in the industry, people are starting to notice that Ryerson Business Grad's aren't just able, but better than most uni's.

York is good, granted.. everyone knows that, but if you're not in Schulich, it's no different and I would say... you will be working in the shadows rather than in association with the Schulich Program. In saying that, you will be treated as second-tier students.. just look around at all the business undergrad competitions, Ryerson is suprisingly near the top.

I personally haven't heard much from Atkinson for business, anything I hear from/about York is always Schulich. So just even word of mouth/talk within corporations, Atkinson doesn't really get noticed. Just my 2 cents.

I dunno about that I know 2 people one at york, one at ryerson and they both think ryersons better because of the location. Whats the big difference on campus between york and ryerson?

Location... is because Ryerson is straight downtown of Toronto and that York is in the middle of no where. Also the huge difference would be the faculty. Ryerson Business Management faculty has an actual building for all the business students... as oppose to York, they don't have anything for Atkinson students. Also for classes, you'll will travel a lot around the whole campus because it is scattered everywhere. Ryerson, I would believe it would be in the Business building and outside the business building for elective courses. Like the above poster stated, you will be shadowed under Schulich students no matter what. If you mention you goto York for business they would ask you, "Schulich?" and if you reply with Atkinson.. They will be

Yeah i've heard about that and it has happened last year too, also about firm alarm it has happened during exam and after that happens you are just graded based on how many questions you are answered.

Don't see what all the hassle is about. Both these universities are considered to have the same level of education and their degrees are not very different.

York is one of the best business universities in Canada and has done well under Schulich and Atkinson; where as Ryerson is not known much for its business but better known for other things such as Architecture etc. etc.

4 years ago the big 4 firms did not even look at Atkinson but now they're recruiting Atkinson graduates as it is gaining popularity.

Ryerson as I've heard has a very depressing little society with not much interaction where as at York you will make a hell of a lot friends.

A smart person would know that Schulich is known for its MBA and not for its undergraduate program. Doing it at Schulich or Atkinson would not matter.

Eventually, it boils down to two things- location and socialization. If you are an extrovert and love to meet people, York is a great place for you, but if you prefer location better than Ryerson is your university.

The idea of being more or less sociable depends on the person not the school imo. York & Ryerson are both communter schools, its going to be the same situation.

I've been to Ryerson a couple time to tour around and have taken a spring course there and it seems quite friendly and making friends isn't hard like what ^ posted, it really depends on yourself and if you can socialize with people around you. Also it isn't a depressing little society, if you've seen Atkinson society... It is really hard to find their society as it doesn't much exist and scattered everywhere, unless you were talking about the whole school in general. But if you are narrowing down to just Atkinson's business and Ryerson's business, Ryerson will put Atkinson to sleep.

*Did my first year at Atkinson* (Don't get me wrong, Atkinson is a great school but many factors that drove me away)
