o yeah, love that stuff.
Don't bother with redbull though, too expensive for too little caffeine.
Get the larger cans for the same price like Rockstar, FullThrottle or monster.
Actually, I'm gonna go pick one up now cause I gotta start studying for cell biology :(

I don't know why local people love Red Bull..Fullthorottle..etc.. I saw a lot of people drinking those , particular, from Arts/geography/sociology students... may be they never had a Red Bull hang over... your mind is hyper and awake but you got 0 concentration.. may be that makes them write essay better..I dunno..
Drinking Green mix with milk is very good. It is the best food in the morning when you force yourself to wake up 6 30 am at the morning to study despite you had only slept for 4 hours.
also, last advice,,... eat lot of fruits and vegetables during exams time. It helps you to digest and stay fresh.

I can tell you that your idea is going to do much more harm than good.
Try to get at least 4-5 hours of sleep the night before your exam and study a few days earlier if you've got the time.
I once tried what you are suggesting...I think I ended up with a C on the final exam even though I KNEW that I knew the material. My mind couldn't process properly on the lack of sleep + ridiculous amounts of caffeine that I had taken to keep me up all night AND during the exam.
Anyway, best of luck...and don't forget that 1 gram (1000mg) of caffeine will usually cause a human being to overdose if taken within a small amount of time.

I know what you mean. You taught the whole study group and you ended up getting 66 and that girl have no clue what she is doing got 88%..
Sleep + healthy diet is better than ingesting those stuff ( included Timhortons)

Hahahaha
And, I find caffeine helps me concentrate during those 10 hour study sessions. But sleep is definitely important, so is eating well. I find if you balance it all, it is very beneficial.
Also, remember, if you study with caffeine, take the exam with caffeine.

Personally, I keep my calories high, drink diet soda, sleep 4 hours a night and nap for an hour during the day. Eph and caffeine just cause you to crash.

Question:
How do you keep calories high by drinking diet soda?
And I don't know how you guys do it. I barely function with less then 7 hours of sleep, let alone less. And I eat right, i make full meals and stuff with vegetables and healthy ingredients. I even tried the half an hour walk to a from school (not in the morning, don't want to wake up that extra 30/45 minutes).
Anyone have any advice? Hell, i fall asleep at my 9:30 class (which is usually first of the day for me)

Pizza => sustained moderate-high blood sugar
Cola => temporarily high blood sugar then low blood sugar

Aaa, I see. I was going to say cola doesn't have any calories... haha.
I'd prefer fruit juice to diet coke because of the aspartame/sucralose. I just don't trust that stuff.
Aspartame is a neuro-toxin, and sucralose is a chlorocarbon.

Is that your normal sleep schedule or just during exam time? :|

What are Ginco pills and Green?
Anyway, I drank Red Bull back in my senior year of high school so I could stay awake and study even though I knew that caffeine makes me fall asleep. Needless to say that I fell asleep during the exam so I'm sticking to the traditional method of studying way beforehand :P

I actually do the opposite and try not to drink any caffeine around exam time. Getting a good night's sleep is the best.

I try to have a decent sleeping, diet during exam time. Heck I make sure I exercise during that time (play a hour or two of hoops).
Definitely not so high on caffeine besides drinking green tea

Hold on, until I saw the title to this thread I thought I didn't have to think about exams for at least another four months.
Right now all I'm thinking about is getting drunk during frosh week... and trying to find ways to sober up quickly before my 8:30 lectures. One more year....

You guys ever drink something mixed with matcha ? It's a green powder - potent stuff. It has all the benefits of energy drinks, with none of the side effects. The only problem, it's expensive. I use to mix it and drink it all the time when I worked at this place where they selled smoothies.

Matcha is powdered green tea. It doesn't contain a lof of caffeine (which is good).

I heard if you have too much caffeine you might get memory constipation during calculation intensive exams.
Symptoms is like:
You keep telling yourself " Didn't I done the exact same question before and I even teach the whole study group how to do it but seems I just don't know how to start on this easy question..oh I gonna bomb this exam"...

I drink coffee only to stay awake. RedBull tastes awful to me..
caffiene pills are fine if you only take a few per semester. Don't go crazy with them.
Blueberries are amazing during exam time. Makes me remember x5 as much.

Yes? Lots of carbs, enough fat to slow down absorption, convient portion sizes that allow for frequent meals, appetizing (caffiene supresses appetite).
I had thought GL/GI were not useful due to high variances and individual insulin sensitivity differences, but I'm no expert. FWIW, varieties of pizza have GI between 70 and 30, and a GL of between 7 and 22, somewhere between "High" and "Low" for both. My local pizza place doesn't even publish nutritional info, and I don't trust myself to judge the GI.

If you're really desperate for stupid amounts of caffeine in a drink, get NOS energy drink. It's something like 360 mg of caffeine in a bottle, that's the same as 4.5 red bulls. Surprisingly, it tastes fairly decent (a grapefruit kind of flavour), but it's hard to find and usually costs around 4 bucks.
Just watch for the caffeine shakes, and if you have more than one, hallucinations.

ef's will burn holes in your stomach... RB is great... now bigger cans too!!!
"Red Bull large, gives you rocket boosters"
I think that was the marketing scheme 2 for 4 bux at shell or petro... Last 2 I grabbed were surrounded by 500 ml cans of RB... Guess they are following suit it the market!
Bigger is better... I'd prefer they concentrate the formula more rather then give a bigger can.

Sleep would help you more than extra few hrs of cramming. Assuming you already have most of the material at a moderate understanding.
I like to sleep no later than 1am exam days, and then wake up a bit earlier to refresh/cram a little in the mornings before.

Crazy people just study earlier or do less studying and more sleeping. Key is not to study hard but study smart!! I find studying with breaks and exercise works best and if you really need to cram a bit as a last resort drink some coffee.

If you need to cram the night before you are screwed no matter what you do, IMO.

It's never too late to study.
At least that's what I tell myself as I watch that "last" youtube or check the facebook one "last" time when I have an exam in less than 12 hrs and haven't studied yet.
It's worked for me up till now

It's better to get a good night's rest than pull an all nighter, IMO. But if I had to finish an assignment, lab and such I drink engery drinks, and coffee. Nevertheless, to get to the source of "alertness", you should buy caffeine pills. It's worth a try. Also, what's also a really good motivator is to write a big "F" on a piece of paper and stick it to your wall.

Staying up late to study/review works for some people. It has worked for me before but of course there's that crash afterwards, so it's best to do it for the last exam (if necessary).

I guess it might be possible, as we are all different afterall. Personally, I think cramming and staying up late with little to no sleep has hurt me more than it has helped me and I will no longer study in such a manner.

Matcha, is high in L-theanine(an amino acid which can cross the blood brain barrier), supposed to promote a sense of "clam alertness". Green tea contains about 25mgs of caffine per cup. Matcha contains more (not sure exactly how much), so if you don't really do caffine on a regular basis, you'll get a little caffine boost from Matcha. Aparantly they use Matcha or the L-theanine in Matcha to treat kids with ADHD or ADD... they've been using it for a while and it seems to work... so if you're having trouble focusing try some Matcha if i'm not mistaken you can now buy it at Booster Juice!

I can't even drink instant coffee, the caffeine makes me sick. I do feel more alert and awake but it's more of a jumpy, jittery feeling, with nausea...it ain't pretty
