We're a smart bunch at RFD, but come on we all have either been suckered by some sales pitch, some "organization", or whatnot. They brainwashed us, basically.
My question is when was the last time you got brainwashed and if so, how did they sucker you? Quixtar? White Van Scam? MDG? Religious Sects?

In a word, yes. Me, I am a very good natured person who always tries to act in the best interest of everyone and treat others how I want to be treated. Sometimes people take advantage, and yes, sometimes I have been scammed because of it.
But still, is there some better way of behaving? Is it really better to be cynical and distrusting for your whole life?
As for the last time I got scammed, I am really too embarrassed to admit what happened... :o

Mormons have some of the hottest women on this earth as a part of their group. For some men, that might be enough to tempt them over(and be a completely willing participant). I hate to say it, but there are a lot of men that would easily be brainwashed by women(to believe anything).

Yes, you are correct. But they stopped that a hundred years ago, so if you do it then you'll be dead in their eyes.

hahaha does your wife know that?
I've been brainwashed by Best Buy with how great their Performance Service Plans are.
They wanted me to sell a 4 year extended warranty on a USB cable. Cable cost: $29.99
Cost of PSP for 4 years: $19.99.
I broke free of this brainwash and they let me go cuz I was not selling PSP as much as I should be - because I did not want to lie to customers on how great and how fast their PSP response is. I found out for most customers, the 2-3 weeks we are suppose to tell the customers are in reality, 2 to 3 months or longer.

The same could easily be said for pretty much all the "other" camps too. Athiests, agnostics, evolutionists, Marxists.... every single camp has so much misinformation flying around, few people have any idea what to believe in... which is the whole point.
A confused public is very easy to manipulate.

Read between the lines. Capitalism's goal is to make something look better than it really is.
Religion, Marketing, and Government are all guilty of brainwashing (more tactfully called indoctrination). Religion should be banned for children under the age of 15. They should be forced to learn critical thought prior to being told about the magic spaghetti monster in the sky...

Couple of years ago there was a huge tna/lululemon pants fad - girls definitely weren't buying them for the gym. Don't know if that's still the case since I haven't lived in Toronto for 2 years now. When I went back for christmas, everyone seemed to have those ugly monogrammed tna bags.
Maybe this trend never made it to Saskatchewan.

Brainwashed by the government job retraining program.
I actually beleived that taking one of their graphics courses for 3 weeks would get me a job.
Course was a joke and was free though...waste of time as I knew more than the instructor from doing online tutorials at home.
I actually wanted to take a college course that was cheaper and was only $300 and would have been way more helpful.
But since t his was the only school or place that was acceptable it was that or nothing.
Well the place I took my course from went under 1 year later- probably because no one could find jobs that went there.
I know some friends have been brainwashed by those 20,000 a year computer schools. There used to be one "Better Business College" or something like that.
One of my old friends was actually brainwashed into spending $500 for some face cream from Holt Renfrew. She bought the La Mer cream!
Ok, so maybe the 2oz size is $230 US.

La Mer
Crème de la Mer/2oz
Crème de la Mer has inspired a devoted following with its extraordinary facial results. At the heart of the formula is a nutrient-rich Miracle Broth, created through a meticulous 3 to 4 month biofermentation process. The results, often called miraculous, speak for themselves. In a short time skin becomes softer, firmer, looks virtually creaseless. For all skin types. 2 oz. Made in USA.

Heh. I know what you mean. The female jahova's witnesses that used to come to the door every 3 months or so with a copy of the watchtower were totally hot, 9.5 on the babe-meter.
They would ask if I wanted to hear more, I would say 'sure - why don't you come inside and take off all your clothes and we can talk about it'. :cheesygri
Only ever had to say it once, they have never been back...
As for brainwashing, Best Buy did a pretty good number on me for a short while. PSP, Monster Cable, Overpriced accessories, Needless Services, Daily Chants, 6am Meetings, the whole 9 yards.
I saw thru it pretty quick, and just winged it for the last year and a half there. You would still offer the customer a service plan and a printer cable, but wouldn't sweat it if he didn't go for it. No money out of your pocket...

I think we've all been brainwashed to a certain extent. I think the important thing is to try to question your beliefs from time to time.
Having been raised by atheist parents, I've always thought how bizarre Christianity was and am still astonished at how many believers there of it here in western society. These days, with Muslims at the forefront in the news, I just think about how much trouble religion is and how many people die over it. There are some redeeming features to religion, but there are way more cons than pros.
