My parents are looking for a Mountain bike for my 6'6" father who requires a mountain bike with a 23"+ Frame so far specialized is the only company they can find but they are completely sold out and the bike is $2000, does any one know of any other company's that make an more affordable XXL bike? excluding wal-mart and other department stores bikes

wow, when I read the thread title I was thinking "Is he serious? 24"?"

Then you say that your pops is 6'6" ... it makes sense now. :cheesygri

My advice is this:

- call around serious mountain bike shops and they will tell you if they can accomodate your frame size request or what mfg'ers can do that size. Talk to the manager, not the sales reps who may not give you as much time as the manager/owner.
- check online sites for availability ...

Honestly, large bike frames are harder to come by and back in the day there were a few mfg'ers that made 'clydesdale" frames ... at a cost.

Realize that extreme sizing results in low volume and low profit/margins and thus higher pricing ... so you mostlikely will have a difficult time securing the bike of your choice at the price you want. You did not mention if your father wants a hardtail or full suspension. Or maybe just a cruiser bike ... he's not actually going to go on real mountain trails, is he?

Forgot to mention that the Kona Hoss is the first bike that came to mind ... however, the largest size is a 22" for that bike ... although i'm sure if the geometry is good enough to accomodate your father. Does he have much more than a 33-34 inch standover height? Measure up to his crotch (he can do this himself, lol) and see if 33-34 inches is way to low for him. 1200 bucks retail for the 2008 edition
