I kno this is long but i hope someone can help me out here, I think I just failed my physics course today, we had the exam for summer school and my mark going into it was 46 and i dont think i got over 50 on the exam to push it close to 50. the only reason i need this credit is because i need to have 30 credits to attend york university( already enrolled into courses). now im sure if i dont get the credit, i cant attend. my mark was like 57 except i missed a test because i had to go for enrollment appointment so the teacher said he is not going to let me make up etcc  and it dropped to 46( cuz we only have 4 tests). ive tried asking him to not include that or not give 0 at least, but he said he cant do anything except if i am like 48, he will bump my mark up. but if he wont give me 0 for the test, im sure i can pass with like 55 or something. Is there anythin I can do about it, ask him again, beg him i guess??? We will know our marks on monday

also any chance i can still take some course and finish it by september in case he wont pass me?? like some online course somewhere, can ILC work even though im enrolled into hs but this was my last year soo can I do anything noww to save myselff, thanksss hope anyone can help outt hereee thankss

any other place i can get a credit from??

Explain the situation to him & talk to him nicely. I am sure that he will understand and you guys can work something out. Most teachers are not looking to fail their students.

hey thanks for replying, like i said i asked him not to include that test( with 0 mark) in calculation but he said its my mistake, like i know a lot of teachers that would jus remove a test if u miss it. he said hes gonna try his best to pass mee, but its like if i have 48 then he wud do it and not if its like 45 or somethin. i really hope he will pass me cuz i dont wanna wait another year, cant wait till monday to see wut happens,

I know a few people who are teachers...they said it's nearly impossible to fail somebody nowadays.

They said that they're more or less obligated to give you extra assignments or allow you to make up the mark in some limited respects in order to give you a chance to pass.

Apparently, failing a student is A LOT of paperwork and most teachers hate doing it. Hopefully, your teacher feels the same way.

Five years ago I failed two courses in high school. I retook one and just didn't bother with the other one. I had done summer school the year before and I had planned for a possible crappy course so I never took an additional spare. Good thing I did or I would have been a year behind.

Good Kuck.

Did you provide him with notification beforehand and arrange for a time to write the test on another day?

If no, then there isn't much you can do. If yes, he's being a jerk and you should probably talk to the principal (rescheduling small tests with valid reasons should be allowed).

noo i didnt tell him ahead of time. basically for my 3rd test i told him i would be going for enrollment appointment and would miss the test, he said its okay we will work it out, but my appointment had to be rescheduled, so i did go and write the test. this time i didnt tell him because i was thinking alone the same line that he would let me write it the next day, but then hes like he cant make a new test for everyone. anywa i guess theres nothin i can do except waittt so

Speak to a guidance counsellor. They usually can speak to the teacher on your behalf. Just a warning, something like this can get you in pretty serious trouble later on in life, but I guess that's what high school is for =).

Well, now you know I guess. If you give the same spiel to a prof they'll just laugh at you and give you 0.

Maybe you could speak to the principal or department head if your teacher isn't willing to budge?

Well everytime i listen to the radio when driving I keep hearing ads for this place where you can take high school courses online and it's accredited by the Ministry of Education in Ontario.

I'm assuming this is high school you're referring to so check it out and see if it meets your needs.

They say you can do it on your own time in the ad so maybe you can just register for your course, skim through the stuff and write the exam within a few weeks.

thank for all the replies, juz got back home from school, and i passedddd!!! lol

had 46% goin into exam, got 52% on exam so it was 48 and he bumped to 50, and like saw the list and he did it for a lot of ppl soo yaa i guess whoever said they have to do a lot of paperwork is prolly rightt, but i think he wudve done it for me in any case since gave me 0 on the test( which is a bit unfair) or my mark wud be like 60 right now but im not complaining thoo, soo yaa at least can go to university noww

Congratz on passing, however, not to be harsh, but I think you should learn a valuable lesson from this. Never assume anything, always tell the teacher/professor what is going on and make sure you have absolute approval before missing a test/exam, etc. If you were already in University, they'd just laugh at you and tell you better luck next year. Anyway, good luck with University.
