parking ticket

I got a parking ticket(city of toronto) half year from now, I just forgot to pay it, I call the Parking tag operation today and they told me that the ticket was cancelled because the person give me the ticket wrote down the wrong plate expiry date on the ticket. They told me that I dont need to pay for the ticket.
I just wondering why this happen? What if I make a online payment before I even know the ticket was cancel, will they refund my money back if that happen?

count yourself lucky it was cancelled...as for getting you $$ back..you would have to ask them to reverse it and it would take a couple of days...they would have a record of the payment once they confirm the last 4 digits of the cc your used.....i doubt they will refund without you asking for it
