View Full Version : Waiting for a YARIS!!!

I bought a Yaris last week. Salesmen told me it should be in by the end of the month. I called him yesterday and he said it would now be midway through August.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you able to get something out of it? Waiting a month for a car is quite the headache!

You could try and ask for something and why not? But realistically I'm sure there's another 10 people at that dealership waiting for that car. Still can't hurt to ask.

Not sure what your Bill of Sale says, but on mine, I read the fine print on the back and it says they can make you wait up to 3 months for a car, unless both sides agree to cancel the agreement.
I wonder if people have been made to wait that long before...

Our Yaris came in a week behind schedule, and my sales guy thrown in the mp3 6 cd changer as a little surprise, we didn't even ask for it, because he felt bad to make us wait the extra week.
Your dealer probably wasn't able to find the exact car you want from a nearby dealership, that's why they have to order from Japan, so there's no point to cancel the deal unless you are going to shop for another car or get one of the Yaris they have on the lot. I'm sure someone will be happy if you cancel your deal, because someone will be getting their car early!
As for what Edirol said, yes I recall when the 06 Civic Si first came out, some people got it at MSRP and still have to wait 4-5 months for it.

I wouldn't cancel the deal, I was just wondering if anyone got anything extra out of a situation like this. This is redflagdeals isn't it?

3 months? That's nuts! Isn't it usually "7 days within the promised date of delivery"? Because on the reverse side, if the vehicle is available for delivery, you usually have 7 days to take delivery before the dealer can send you, via registered mail, a notice of "cancellation and we're keeping your deposit", lol.

My cousin just got one and supposedly they are shipped from Japan so that could be the reason for the wait. Apparently the plants here do not make the Yaris (yet)

It all depends on when you bought the vehicle!!! Right now stock is limited, thus longer wait times!!!!

I know a person that brought a Corolla and was told next week delivery, and DON VALLEY north couldn't deliver for another 6 weeks, so they offered him one of their loaner vehicle till the new corolla arrived. This was like 2 months ago.

standard sales agreement on car purchases does state 90days. thats why i asked them to put in writing a condition that its only valid for 7days when i bought my car

of all the cars available out there, why in the world would you wait for a yaris. urgh give them an ultimatum, they've got 2 days to give you the car or you get a full refund and you buy yourself something better, like a horse.

Why bother being so ignorant? I was looking for positive feedback. If you have some sort of thing about horses, you should get one yourself.

you posted on an open forum, you'll get people's opinions. regardless of whether you like them or not. you're ignorant to think that people are going to high five you on every decision you make.and if you wanted only positive feedback why even bother soliciting other people's opinions.
Anyways what else do you want us to say other than follow up with the dealer, put some pressure on him. if he doesn't produce your car sooner rather than later then look through your contract and see if there are any terms governing a time frame within which they have to deliver your car. In any case ask the dealer for some compensation and if they still don't budge call up or mail Toyota Canada.
To set the record straight I'd like to get a horse but my condo corp probably wouldn't be too happy about it and there aren't exactly any horse lanes in Toronto.

Has anyone out there called their insurance company to determine what the rates are, a friend of mine said that the Yaris and Corolla are rated as High risk vehicles because the likelyhood that one will be injured in a crash is significant since the car is so small?, If so which insurance companies have you guys gone to?

Yaris blows. The longer you "wait for" a Yaris the more disappointed you'll be when you have to drive it!

Uh..it's a small efficient car. He got it for a reason. What kind of car do you have buddy?
Why do you think the Big 3 companeis are losing money? Cuz people are buying smaller cars because of the gas price.

He didn't ask whether you liked the car or not, he asked if he should be canceling the deal due to the waiting time. If the Yaris suits his needs and his budget and he's happy with that, then great.
Jeez.

I got a Yaris the other day. It didn't have the package we wanted but we negotiated the price so that the enhanced equipment was free and they threw in a bumper protector, cargo liner, and shift knob for free. Just squeeze their nuts a little and they'll help you out. Just don't be a dick about it. Yaris' are in short supply.

why do people bash the Yaris (or other small cars)
it's perfectly fine for gas conscious A-B drivers...

Louise ;) I couldn't care less if he asked me if I liked the car or not. I didn't ask you if you needed to comment on what I said either, yet you still did. (That's fine by the way, I'm just pointing out the pointlessness of it.)
In my defence, I originally posted saying nothing about the fact that the Yaris blows; but then once someone else said it, I had to concur because it's true. Whether the Yaris suits his needs or budget and makes him happy is not really the issue. The issue is the fact that it's one of the lowest-end cars out there. So... Why would you wait that long for one? It doesn't sense any make.
I mean you might be content to wait 30 minutes for a great steak at a restaurant but are you going to wait 30 minutes at Burger King for them to make you a Whopper? The Whopper might be what you want, but really waiting that long for a fast-food burger is ridiculous.
Uh..it's a small efficient car. He got it for a reason. What kind of car do you have buddy?

Irrelevant on both counts. Who cares what car the other guy drives, and who cares who is losing money? "Waiting for" a Yaris isn't really a great idea. If you're waiting for a good car then sure, but a Yaris? It's a question that nearly answers itself.
Again if you're waiting for a Whopper at Burger King, are you gonna go on their Wi-Fi, go on the food forum on RFD and post "Waiting for a Whopper!!!". No you're just going to leave/ask for your money back and go elsewhere.

Yeah it's fine until you drive it, lol.
My dislike (and anyone else's for that matter) for the Yaris aside though, it is a low-end car, I don't see the point of waiting for one.

I can go on the Wifi sitting in my Audi S4 on Verizon's EVDO network if I'm waiting at Burger King in the drive-thru. Yaris is just as comfy.

So you would wait 30 mins for a Whopper and you would make a thread on RFD asking if you should be waiting?

I never said I would wait 30 minutes either for a Whopper. Who knows if I'm hungry sure why not. If my little cousin wants one, sure why not. Now it depends on the circumstance right? Just like the Yaris.

Just ordered mine, took them a few days to get it ready and picking it up tomorrow.
Love it, and looking forward to the gas savings from a second car.
