Ok so i just checked my status today. Here is my situation.
So far my current entitlement is only $1,400.
I'm going to UTSC so my first year costs should come to this approximiately:
Tuition ~4800
Textbooks ~750-1000
Commuting ~ 500
Cell phone ~300
Food/having a social life ~300
That comes down to a ~7,000 cost in total...
I have my own job atm and have ~1000 in savings, but i plan to use that to cover some costs such as my cell phone plan and whatnot for next year.
Now this is the tricky part.
My parents make an ok amount of gross income (Combined) ~85k/year
BUT they are refusing to give me any money whatsoever for university (even from the RESP) Until maybe 3rd year comes around.
SO, Obviously as you can see i cannot pay this off all by myself.
What should i do to appeal this?

if your parents are refusing to give you money for uni, then i don't think you can do much. I would try to appeal, probably might work, but OSAP might tell you that your parents need to support you or something. Just sounds odd that your parents wont support you to go to university, so if osap doesnt give you the money, you wont be going?

Did you do a UTAPS assessment earlier? Meet with admissions & awards (I don't know the appropriate office at UTSC, sorry) and explain the situation. Remember, U of T has a policy that no student should have to drop out for lack of funds and they are fairly generous with loans/grants.

Maybe there are some on campus jobs where the money gets applied towards tuition?
Seems like you're in a tough situation. Definitely ask the financial aid office or OSAP what to do.

i doubt he'll receive UTAPS unless he literally goes to a financial advisor and begs since in order to qualify for UTAPS, you have to qualify for provincial loan in OSAP and not only federal loan. That 1,400 is too small to include both federal and provincial loans but only federal.

why dont you try getting a student line of credit from your bank and get a job to pay the interest payments? thats what im doing, as well as OSAP.

I think you can cut the cost of textbooks by getting used books or short term loan. There's also book bursaries you can apply to. But ya, definitely appeal. And ask if your parents have RESPs.

anuj, you should post in BBQPorkBun's OSAP thread for a start. IIRC, buried in his thread he has said before that OSAP expects you to use any RESP money starting in year 1. You can't defer the RESP and still expect full OSAP. Search his thread and if you can't find the info you need then ask him in that thread.
