firstly, im male/ontario/over 25 and driving since 17/still with g2 license though (going for g next month).

having been in one at-fault accident that totaled my car (2001 civic coupe si) just this month, i've been hunting around for a new insurance policy via kanetix.ca.

so with my last settlement amount, i'm most likely planning to get a new 2008 civic sedan dx-g. i was surprised to see that desjardins general auto insurance (http://www.desjardinsgeneralinsurance.com/d-on/EN/Pages/home.aspx) quoted me around $2100 a year even with my record (one at-fault accident, one ticket that came from the same accident). meanwhile others like dominion of canada insurance, rbc, etc etc are definitely quoting me at least over $3500 to $4000. as far as i can tell, the options/coverage/deductibles are about the same.

is anyone else under desjardins? i'm a little wary about how their rates can be so low?

My parents and bro are insured under them and they are quite good. When it was time to renew the policy, they decreased the payment quite a bit so we stuck with them. The thing I like though is that you aren't stuck with one agent so you can call whoever you want whenever you want. Less hassle + Low insurance = :cheesygri :cheesygri :cheesygri

so im now signed up for 2037$ per year. thats 169$ a month.

this is on a honda civic 2006 LX with 1000$ deductible on both collision and comprehensive, 1,000,000$ liability and loss of use coverage. i'm over 25, one at-fault accident, 1 ticket (from the accident) and still driving with a g2 (getting g next month).

by far the cheapest rate i've found. belair direct was next at about 2400 a year.
