Oil is down 3+% today. Should see a similar drop at the pumps tomorrow if you can wait to gas up then.
Not sure if this is a "HOT deal" but I'd thought saving 3% by waiting a couple of hours is well worth it!

Yah, Crude oil is going down. And the US goverment was saying how oil wasn't being speculated... pshhh LIES I tell you. Makes no sense that oil is now falling when the driving season is at its peak during the Summer.

Big institutional investors are pulling out big time and the prices are just tumbling. I'm predicting $100 oil by the end of summer :cheesygri

So instead of filling up with $70 today I can fill up for $67.90 tomorrow.

It always amazes me the lengths that Canadians will go to save a few bucks on gas, but won't make any effort to save money elsewhere. OF course advertisers know this unexplainable phenomenon and exploit it.

Try finding a place in Europe that has a credit card soley aimed at saving 2 cents a litre or car dealers offering gas cards or free tanks of gas to buy cars, or even drug and electronic stores throwing in gas cards to sell merchandise... only in North America - and gas is cheap here

I get paid close to $30 an hour, so this is worth about 4 mins of my time. I spend more time than this filling up my tank, so I'll wait till I need gas and fill up then.

Sorry - off topic... good deal I guess if the market is super efficient and immediately drops gas prices in direct response to oil prices. You didn't mention the CAN > USD exchange rate fluctuation today which could have a bigger impact in the cost of oil - since oil is quoted in USD.

The price at the Pump will not instantly drop due to the lowering of the cost of a Barrel. There are many more factors at work. Another factor is how much the station paid for the gas in their tanks.

Wow Boo, you are my hero. First critisize Canadians. Then North Americans. Then everyone that wants to save a couple cents on gas.
Obviously his post effected you in such a big way.

"It always amazes me the lengths that Canadians will go to save a few bucks on gas, but won't make any effort to save money elsewhere"... please tell me you're not that dumb. Isn't this entire site based on people saving money in every possible way?

My point is ... if you have to gas up anyway, why not wait till tomorrow? That's it ...

FYI - The reason I didn't mention CAD/USD rate is because it's immaterial.
7/22 - CAD/USD = 0.9919
7/23 - CAD/USD = 0.9899
Change of $0.002 vs. the drop in crude of 3+%.

It's not a hassle for most people to wait to fill up till tomorrow. It amazes me the lengths some people go to stay uninformed (http://www.mcteague.ca/WebPages/gas_price_today.htm - one click a day at 5 PM) and waste money.

maybe u could spend less time on rfd and go make more money so u never have to find deals again?

in my books, money is money. Saving $2 is still savings.
This post isnt telling you to drive 200 kms to some gas station to save the 3%. Its to let ppl know that if they are planning on filling up today, just wait out another day to save some money

So instead of filling up with $70 today I can fill up for $67.90 tomorrow.

The time it took you write this lengthy offtopic response; you already wasted $5; which could've been used to fill up your gas tank http://www.winnipegheights.com/forums/images/smilies/1/cwm39.gif.

Gas price dropped again and there are queues forming at the stations.
But most cars in the queue just idle their engines while waiting their turn, and the wait is much longer than at traffic lights.
So in the end, how much can one really save? Plus we usually don't go to the station with low-fuel warning lights on, so we can't really pump one full tank of gas.

Buddy, not all of us make $30 an hour.

Some of us make more than that and we like to save a few pennies on gas. You can't always time your fill ups, but if you can save a few bucks a year, it's more money in your pocket.

I saw a 5 gallon plastic gas tank at home Depot that's starting to look good.

should be more concerned about saving a buck.

u mean u fill up just at random times. WHY? unless ur going on a LONG trip every time, why not wait till the tank is empty.

I dont enjoy going to the pump so often, i like to know how much each full tank gives me and i am a sucker for the min. L/filled for extra air miles.:-0
+ i drive a civic, which is already great on gas.

here is a little brain twister:
if u fill up less than 1/4 tank of gas from empty, would u get better gas mileage, since its assumed the weight of the vehicle will be less of that gas?
whats the answer....no?
maybe, depending on what it is car?
how much does a full tank of gas weight?

not really many other things to obsess about.

Without fail, two things come up when people are standing around in various public settings, they'll talk about the weather, and then they talk about gas prices. It's not THAT big a deal.
