HMV - $9.99 PSP Greatest Hits titles

Currently HMV has select PSP Greatest Hits titles on sale for $9.99. I believe there are only about 5 on sale in total. IIRC, the titles were:

- Killzone: Liberation
- Daxter
- Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
- SOCOM
- SOCOM 2

Too bad I already picked up Killzone months ago for ~$24. Oh well, my copy doesn't have the red Greatest Hits banner, I guess that's a plus ... :|

i don't see anything wrong w/ covers that have the red GH banners.


few exceptions where there is a diff.
e.g. KH2 original cover is shiny, whereas the KH2 GH cover isn't

Bough Fireteam Bravo 2 ( parallel with Combined Assault on the PS2 ) and was pretty good. Using one analog stick is something getting used too.

As far as Tactical Strike by Slant Six, it's an awesome game but completely different than previous Socom. Took sometime getting used to but got pulled in the game a lot more and still haven't finished it yet.

I'll drop by my local HMV to find Socom: Fireteam Bravo One for 9.99$ does look like a steal.

I was jsut at Oakridge HMV in Vancouver and they didn't know anything about the sale so maybe it is location specific.

I checked my local HMV today and these games arent on for 9.99, they are on sale, 2 for $40.
Crap deal imo.

As with all HMV sales, each store will only have a certain number of copies tagged with the sale price sticker. In this case, most stores will have some stock of these titles with their regular price (a 2/$40 sticker); and they will only have some copies of these titles with their $9.99 sticker price.

Last time I checked, at the HMV in the Yonge/Eglinton Centre, I saw a few copies with the $9.99 sticker and then on another rack the same titles with the 2/$40 sticker. Since the price will only ring through based on the UPC on the sticker (not the back of the game case), once they sell out of the copies with the $9.99 sticker they won't sell the 2/$40 tagged copies for $9.99.

There is also a huge vertical banner in all the HMVs I've been to (either in the front window or somewhere inside the store) advertising the $9.99 GH titles.

Should be everywhere. I've seen the banner in the front window of the HMV at Scarborough Town Centre and also at the HMV in the Yonge/Eglinton Centre. I saw titles marked with the $9.99 sticker on the rack at Yonge/Eglinton. Didn't bother going inside the STC HMV to check.

I can confirm that the HMV at Peel/Ste-Catherine had R&C:SM, a SOCOM and Daxter for $9.99. There might have been more.
At first, I only saw them for much more. But I think they weren't the Greatest Hits versions.

Picked up the orginal @ FCP,only one of the 5 it did not have was Socom 2,anyone know if GRAW2 is any good on the PSP,it was stickered 2/40,not sure what other game i might get for this deal.

perhaps location specific, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to check it out instore ...

if these are clearance titles, they're bound to be put into some "dump bin"... don't expect employees to check these for you. (heck, i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know about such)

Deal is still alive in NB at least - the games are part of their weekly deals and I found them right up at the front desk with the other CDs and DVDs on special for the week.

I saw lots of Daxter and a few Killzone at the HMV in downtown toronto for 9.99. Nothing on the shelf at Yonge and Bloor.

I loved them both. The second one is better and some of the levels in it intersects with the PS2 game Socom Combined Assault. If you kills people in certain parts of the level and sync the save game they will be dead in the other game. ie. kill 5 enemys in a house that is in both games on the psp and they won't be there in the PS2 and vice versa.

Also you con unlock levels and weapons too. Socom 1 on PSP links with Socom 3 on PS2 and Socom 2 on PSP links with Socom Combined Assault on PS2. Also the online play is quite good too.

I bought them both for $40-50 each and they were worth that, so $10 is a steal.

i can confirm this.

strange way of "marketing" ... even the HMV staff i asked said they've no clue why that is...

it's only a ltd # of copies that can be sold at the $10 price... the rest are 2/$40, or $24 ea.

also, the $10 sticker prices have no barcodes, so they actually scan the UPC for the price, whereas the 2/$40 tagged ones, they scan the barcode on the 2/$40 sticker tag

they also said these actually have 2 diff. SKUs in the system, regardless of same title... weird.
