And your excuse for not having your licence and excessive speeding (60 in a 40 zone a lot more dangerous than 120 in a 100 zone) would be what?

the best method of handling this situation for a lazy person is to pay it

I for my wallet at home, which has my copy of insurance and driver license in it. I only had proof of ownership in the car. As for the speeding, I was talking with my co-worker (who's sitting beside me) while driving to work and was distracted so I wasn't paying attention to the speedometer. That's just what happened.

I'm not lazy. I'm willing to do research on this (actually I've already begun) and I see RFD as one of the great resources.

I don't care paying the fine, I just don't want to get convicted because my insurance will go up.

sigh... another one of these stories. I'm sorry if I'm being rude and unhelpful but what do you expect from people?

Everything you just said does not excuse you from anything. 1) you speed but your excuse is because you weren't paying attention 2) you left your wallet at home with your driver's license. Well guess what? You're 0/2! Do you feel like there's some kind of loop hole to the system that we can provide you? Was there some mistake made by the officer and you are actually innocent? If so, then plead not guilty. Sheesh. It says right on the ticket what are your options.

With regards to your speeding ticket, I suggest you pay up as being distracted by your co-worker is not a good excuse (but I'm sure you already know that). Consider it a lesson learned and that you didn't cause any harm to anyone or yourself by speeding.

As for the license, you can choose to see the justice of the peace and then tell them your story, they may let you go or at least lessen your fine.

As for the license, correct me if I'm wrong but can't you go to the station with your license and then you won't have to pay the ticket? Otherwise, choose to see the justice of the peace and then tell them your story, they may let you go or at least lessen your fine.

That's how it was before. This isn't the case anymore. YOu need to have your proper paper work with you when you drive. My uncle had this happen to him and I went with him to the police station to show them his license and insurance. The police officer explained to me the law regarding this matter has changed.

your best bet would be to get a ticket fighter...see what they can do since they are the experts. Good luck.

if you do hire someone, don't use Ontario Traffic Tickets. Bunch of con-artists. They're lazy, rude, and really don't care about the client.

There's a zillion threads about "I just got a ticket(s) what do I do" on this forum in RFD, that's why no one is "helping" you. The views are just for people (like me) that have nothing to do or get their kicks reading people's possibly funny/crazy ticket stories

Seriously these threads suck yet they take up most of the forum it seems :(

The long and the short is there are two types of RFDers regarding tickets:
1. the type that is all law-enforcement-is-the-best-they-are-always-right-you-are-automatically-guilty-so-pay-your-tickets
2. the type that has some sense and will say "fight it" or something similar

Okay I guess there is a 3rd--the rest of use who are way tired of these threads and almost couldn't care less anymore.

These threads are a total waste of time really. Even when people (like Alvito) try to make threads to consolidate this stuff, people in group 1 above start all kinds of stupid arguments and ruin it. Then we're back to seeing 10 threads a day about the same thing :(

Honestly, based on what you've said so far, pay the damn ticket and stop arguing.

1. You were speeding 60 in a 40 zone, no excuses. I've seen people pulled over for 120 in a 110 zone before.
2. You didn't have your license. No excuses here either.

The reason the police give you tickets is for the public's safety, not simply to give you a bad day. Think about the consequences of dangerous driving. You're lucky you didn't hit anyone since you were "distracted".

pay the speeding ticket, as for the licence ask for the day in court:

Last year I got pulled over for not having the sticker on my plate and then I couldn't find the ownership. I went to downtown T.O. court for them just recently (yep, it took a year) and showed the JOP the ownership and the sticker receipt bought that same day. She didn't even look at it and said okay, I waited 5 mins for some other people to sign in and then was first called to the judge, the JOP said all the paperwork was in order and both tix were thrown out. Heading downtown for 1h saved me >$200

Wow man you guys ask me for why I got the tickets for "speeding" and "failure to surrender license" which was obviously for speeding and failure to surrender my license. What "excuse" could i or anyone possibly have? That's just what we did and we got the ticket. Do I need to pass some sort of RFD justice system in order to receive advice?

Also to the person who said these kind of threads are a waste of time, guess what...at least it provides something to read/do for those who are bored and "could care less"

Anyways, I've found some sort of guide on how to fight these tickets and have already filed for a court date. Mods lock please.
