Hello fellow RFDers.

My question today is if you have a Class 1 Drivers license in Alberta

and you move to Ontario and become a legal resident here will you have to do the Graduating license system here too (G1, wait 8 months with school then do G2, wait 2 years then G)?

I assume the Class 1 License in Alberta has the same restrictions as the G Class license in Ontario.

The reason for my question is for those who want to get their licenses quicker (if they have the money and flexibility) they should be able to move to Alberta, become a resident, get the license then move back to Ontario. This just came to my mind so I don't know if I'm correct or not, but hey it sounds interesting anyways,

thanks for reading.

I may be wrong, but doesn't Alberta class 1 also cover driving a tractor trailer unit, like an Ontario class A license?

Any word if its possible? Or if it might work in Quebec too?

If the licence holder has held their driver's licence for more than 24 months in a reciprocating jurisdiction (Alberta), the holder will be entitled to the same class in Ontario (the only exception is a school bus licence). A medical report is required for the exchange of the Alberta Class 1 and the fee will be $15 for a 1 year Ontario class A licence.

I don't know about Quebec.
