Is there anything that someone can do with my plates? Like, would they be able to get all my information from my license plates? Eg. like address, dob, name

Thanks

if all safety measures work properly, i.e. employees at MTO not giving out info for $$... then no.

Word has it that if your plates need to be renewed in the next few months, the person can just type the license plate code into a Service Ontario kiosk and they get the car owner's name and address.

If your plates got stolen, be sure to file a police report ASAP!

Good thing nothing like that here in Winnipeg (the kiosk thing).

It is more or less a privacy issue. Most utility/credit card companies verify security by your address, name, telephone number/account number, and one piece of security information given by the user. Most common one byfar is date of birth. A little bit of social engineering and someone can pretty much assume your identity.

It's not that hard to get this information. Not as easy as in the US (where it is essentially "public information" from your state DMV.
