I've never owned a smartphone but am considering to get one as my next phone.

Everyone who says they've used a smartphone, say that they can never go back to a regular phone. Aside from the following, what other advantage does it have to regular phones?

- web surfing
- email / IM
- word/excel/powerpoint
- synching to outlook?

Is there any other huge differences I'm missing?

u can pretty much do everything you can on a regular PC on your phone. Yes I know that was a blanket statement and there's some exceptions but they're really customizable.

Just some of the features I'm using right now:

-wifi + app = streaming video
-gps + garmin = directions
-games with 3d acceleration (limited of course)
-use as a SIP/VOIP client (make free calls on skype over wifi or 3g if you want to pay extra for data)
-youtube
-gameboy advance emulator, although this is a bit limited since my phone's keypad isn't the greatest for playing games
-divx player
-remote desktop (rdp/vnc) & ssh (putty!)

There's more but I haven't gotten around to trying them out.

Biggest difference I would say is carrying around one device for cellphone, mp3, organizer, etc.
