Cars with minimal difference in USD and CAD pricing?

Just wondering if anyone has compiled a list of cars with the least difference between US and Canadian pricing. I know the new Infiniti FX50 is essentially the same price here as in the states.

I don't think you can really make a generalization like that since it really depends a lot on how much you can get the car 'out the door'. In general, freight and PDI is about 1/2 in the US vs Canada so you have to consider that as well. Also for many cars, in the US, you can buy near invoice price, in Canada you might have to pay near MSRP. You also have to factor in duty if it's applicable (non NA built cars). Also, you have to consider the standard options - some cars (e.g. Lexus IS250 or Sienna LE) have significant differences between standard equipment in Canada vs US.

In general it seems that the cheaper the car, the less the difference will be (e.g. cheap Hyundais are about the same or less in Canada, expensive models are quite a bit more. BMW base model 3 series don't have a great different, 7 series have almost $50k difference ...) but that doesn't apply to all models.

Yes, I'm well aware of all the pricing differences. I'm just trying to figure out if a trend is happening. Right now I'm looking at VW GTI and VW isn't even close with the promotions, let alone the price. For example in the US you can get 0% financing for 60 months compared to our "special" of 4.9%.

VW also comes with maintanince included in the US right now as well. i wouldnt bother with a VW to begin with though:lol:

There is a minimal difference OTD for a Cdn looking to import vs buying local on a G37 now (I imported a G37 about 6 months ago).

There is a $4500 cash rebate + CarCostCanada now says there's an extra $1000 rebate. The Cdn model has more std equipment that increases the cost of the US model to do a fair comparison.

Add 6.1% duty, & shipping to the rebate & std equipment & there is little difference OTD for a Cdn importer. I say shipping because Infiniti dealers in border cities are ripping off Cdns IMO (selling to Cdns for more than to Americans at the same dealer, citing BS excuses). To get the best deal on a Infiniti, you have to go much farther (Cali has the best Infiniti deals).

Cdn Infiniti dealers are much more willing to haggle now (probably hurt by imports!), whereas US dealers are still around the same price as they were 6 months ago so the gap has closed. You'll still probably save more as a % off MSRP in the US, but the gap has closed. The best deal used to be invoice on a Cali G37, now it's $500 under invoice on a Cali G37. The best Cdn deal used to be $1500 off MSRP 6 months ago, now it's $4000 off MSRP (before rebate).
