Bought a new car and oily spots.

Hi, I just bought a car, 08 Accord Coupe Black.

When I picked up the car, the dealer said he washed the car, but I could see oily spots guessing he waxed the car under the sun.

What should I do with it? It does not look like those cars in showrooms.

Should I go to my dealer and ask something?

What can I do? I hand washed the car today but the spots are still there as before the car wash.

It is been 2 days since I picked up the car.

Anyways, you should bring this up to the dealer as soon as you noticed it.

I'll take it back to them and let them remove the spots. The longer you keep it, they might just say you did something wrong.

i won't trust dealer waxing your car...

will create more scratch than anything!

what kind of oily spots ? are they on the body ? under the car leaking to the ground ? near the edge of the doors, etc, if so, this could be rust proofing oil which is normal... in any case, you could always take it back to the dealership and ask what it is.

What dealer did you get it from? I'd honestly bite the bullet and NOT go back to the dealer. Dealer detailing (most dealers with cars I can afford atleast) is for joeschmo101 who wants his new car to be shiny. There are way too many horror stories of improper washing technique mixed with pure ignorance to proper paint care. It would be really unfortunate if the car went back with oily marks, only to be returned to you with swirls.

Check out a local pro detailer, they'll be able to remove the spots for a few bucks ($20-80).. a full mid-range detail will probably run between 150-250.
