Yep, GM does it again. Introduces a brand new battery group that only ACDelco makes... Before I rant any further here are the details.
I have a fairly newish Cadillac CTS-V, comes with a group 101 ACDelco battery that is prone to dying after oooh let's see... about 5 mins of accessory only power (not even the radio needs to be on). Dealer tested it ok so can't be replaced but from research on this battery it seems that it's just plain crap.
So looking for replacements, not necessarily the same group (as per above) but a close fit would be fine.
The battery has to have side terminals and preferably no top terminal as the hood is pretty close.
Optima red/yellowtops group 78 will fit in the tray but are about 3/4 of an inch too tall due to top terminals and I'd rather not hack away at the tray or battery.
The dimensions of the new battery should roughly be: 10.2 L, 6.6 W, 7 H (in inches). As noted, there's some leeway with length and width but height seems to be a concern i.e. can't be much over 7 inches.
Any suggestions??
I looked Odyssey (better than optimas) but they are almost impossible to find in Canada.
The only other drycell/sealed batteries I could locate are the Orbital lineup at Crappy tire.
