Help me choose a phone?
My requirements are:
- must be easily sideloaded for mp3's and videos from my computer.
- must have Wi-Fi
- Must have a good calendar for appointments and schedules
- Must have MP3 functionality
- Must have an alarm
- Must have speakerphone
Preferrable:
- Preferrably a good video viewer as well (for all my pr0n... that's a joke...).
- Preferrable to have at least a 2.0 Mpix camera and preferably with video capture abilities
- Would prefer that it's GSM since I qualify for an upgrade from Rogers, so can save some $$$ if I go through them.
I was considering the new iphone 3G, but to be honest, I don't plan to get any data plan and I plan to buy a seperate GPS for my car, mostly for my wife's use, so don't need it on the phone. So that, at least rules out the new 3G model.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Nokia N95 from Rogers is the best for you.:)

I'm not sure that the n95 is a bit of overkill, given so many features that I'll never use. Any thoughts on the HTC touch cruise? It has Wi-Fi, a 3.2 megapixel camera, it's touchscreen, has GPS, etc. Anyone?

what price range are you looking at?
if you have a larger budget, i highly recommend the HTC Tytn II.

to be honest....
an iphone 2G sounds the best for you in my opinion...
just that the camera campabilities arent that great..
if you wanna go overkill than n95 or 96 is fine....

I checked out the specs on the Tytn II and it doesn't appear to be as feature packed as the N95 and doesn't appear to be on par in terms of user experience as the Iphone and it's a little big (at 200 grams... I currently have the w810i which is barely 100grams). I think I'll rule out the Tytn II. The other suggestion for the K850 with no wifi is not going to work. Wifi is one of the main reasons for my upgrade. To be honest, the camera doesn't have to be fabulous because I just bought a new digital camera a few months ago, so my reliance on the phone for picture taking is probably fairly minimal.
I am sort of considering the older Iphones, but Rogers doesn't offer them??? I don't intend to get the high speed network and I plan to buy a GPS seperately so that my wife can use it, so I don't really need the Iphone 3G. I think I want the Iphone 16GB old version.
Here's a quick question. Do you think Rogers will agree to refund me, say $200 if I sign for 2 years without buying a phone, arguing that I want the Iphone first generation?

I already tried that w/ retentions albeit for a different phone. They said no. I said fine, i'll just get a subsidized phone then if you're going to lock me on a 3yr contract for a decent price plan.
edit: should've included i tried it with Rogers.

fido does that. but you obviously don't tell them you're going to buy a grey market phone. usually you say: well, i don't really want a phone right now b/c there aren't any that i like and they'll give you a credit for the "future".

Well, I'm going to hit Yorkdale today to see the phones in person. Anyone want to suggest a few phones to look for when I'm there. At rogers, I'm going to look at the N95 and the Iphone 3g. At Telus, the Instinct. I dunno what else to look at? Any suggestions quickly? I'm leaving in 20 mins. Thanks.
