Saw this on a Chinese website, a village in China wants to reduce people from speeding. Instead of a straight road, they built a S-curve concrete wall measured 30m in length, 0.6m high, and 2.7m long hoping people will slow down. FYI, a typical road width in Canada is at least 3.7m wide and the minimum clearing envelope for a truck is 3.0m!

Would be cheaper to build excessivly high speed bumps (i.e. T&T Mississauga  )

In residential areas in the Annex they have large blocks alternating the left and right side of the road...essentially the same thing.

haha thats take twice as long to drive through i bet.

That can damage the cars of even slow drivers. I used to dive a camry and the muffler in that thing was naturally low. I could just barely clear the T&T Mississauga speedbumps, but other ones I simply had to avoid because there was NO way to avoid touching!

They do...? Wow am I a good driver :) (not in the parts of the annex that I use, Huron, St. George, and Davenport).

So if somebody crashes in that lane, nobody can get into the village anymore since there's only one lane right?

that only works if you dont care about providing emergency vehicles to that village
In Toronto speed bumps add time to ambulances

I'm sure clearing snow off those would be a hoot if we had those in most of Canada...

Pretty soon all protruding bits of the obstacles will get "worn down" by passing traffic, and the road is straight and clear again :)

man i bet the person that desgined that road was pretty drunk or high, first of all 1 way? takes alot of money and time to build it a little higher ? if theres accidents or if an ambulance or fire truck needs to zip by, it would take extra time lol... why not jus add major speed bumps to prevent people from speeding -.-
