Hi all,
I am looking to buy a new Side by side stainless steel fridge. I have a 36" opening in my kitchen. Originally I was planning to buy a KichenAid brand, however, a sales person at the Bay convinced me to buy the GE-Profile and showed me that they are built sturdier. The model I was looking at is: PSHS6VGXSS
This fridge is regularly priced at $2600. He is giving me 15% discount so the price will be dropped to 2210. Since my wife is working at the Bay, she will receive another 10% discount which bring the price further down to around $2000.
My questions are:
1) GE profile? is it reliable and good or I should stick to KitchenAid?
2) How about the price?
Thanks,

GE was rumor to be on the selling block for their appliance division, they are mixed being made in Mexico or US. No way to tell which one you will get even with GE profile. I went to many stores Sears, Bricks, theBay, appliance Canada, tasco, independent stores. The general consensus seems to be better for KA.
I think you can get better deals if you visit all these places. Just that it is very hard to get any of them to quote it on paper for you, because once they do, the other store can match price and go a little lower. Since you are connected at Bay, you may in fact be able to get a written quote. Than take it to other store, they are more than happy to match/lower the price. For me, knowing the price points was enough to get me a good deal few weeks back for a full set of KA appliances.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. The only visible advantage GE had over the KA was the shelf designs. I guess I still need to shop around more.

BTW, do you mind telling me what models, at which store did you buy your appliances since I am also looking at buying the Oven and dishwasher as well.
What was the right price you purchased these?
Thanks,

Thanks in advance

We upgraded our kitchen a couple years back with GE Profile appliances. I must say that they fit the bill and we've had no trouble at all. BTW, we also got them at the Bay.
We got 15% off plus a discount equivalent to the delivery charge. Given that you're also getting an employee discount it's a slam dunk. BTW, inquire around an get some quotes on the same models and the Bay will match the price !

I did some comparison shopping and I think the deal that Bay is offering is better than others. I am glad to hear that you are happy with your GE profile appliances. This gives me more reason to go with GE.
I still want to know what was the deal that rdarkman68 got on his KA appliances if he doesn't mind sharing with us.
