i am looking at getting a leather sofa with dual recliner. most of the ones i see are leather matched, which means leather where the body touches and vinyl on the sides and back. i prefer 100% full leather, but they are rare, expensive, and i heard will tear much faster than vinyl. one of the store suggested leather blend. he said it is full leather which was treated with chemical and very strong.

anyone have any experience with leather blend sofa/furniture? would you suggest 100% leather, leather matched, or leather blend?

Seems to me you need to go to some other stores. This is the kind of double talk you get at stores that carry the lower end products and like to make rationale for them. You're been fed a bill of goods.

Meanwhile, there are all sorts of 100% leather furniture makers so just keep looking. You can go to some very good stores and find some good deals on quality stuff, sheesh, even Costco carries 100% leather pieces among their stock (at least they do here in Can.). I don't know what prices are like in the US, but here leather has become much more reasonable the past couple of years and you can get a really decent sofa for under $2000 if you watch for sales.

Personally, I wouldn't buy any set with anything but 100% leather and I would make sure it's a really good grade. The vinyls are known to rip badly if they get even the tiniest hole in them. I've had leather with a hole and it did not rip anymore and was repaired so nicely you couldn't even see where the problem had been. Besides as soon as I see vinyl or matched or bicast I would wonder what the frame and structure was like as obviously they are trying to cut costs. Believe me, it does not pay to save money on the frame....live an learn the hard way on that one.
