Gotta go with Deal on this one. His weekly Costco West threads are legendary especially with all the pictures and how he tries to get every possible deal posted to save us time from going. :cheesygri

Toss up between ag2000 (Canadian Tire posts) and Deal (Costco West). Both put in a lot of effort and both deserve recognition. Deal actual goes to Costco and takes pictures of everything.. unreal!

Thanks for the support, mahjongmaniac

I try to avoid stepping on other members personal threads, and spend hours ever week on find price errors on line or slash down prices at the retail outlets. Sometimes it fells like a fulltime job.

After seeing your comma, I highlighted your post, thinking you had some white text. :)

I am gonna vote riskit on this one considering he does a lot of research on line lookin for good deals & then posting them. It takes WAY more work than taking a flyer, scanning it & posting it.
I am in NO WAY saying that the other contestants dont do a good job; I think everyone in their own way does a tremendous job & help save (or spend) all the RFDers a good amount of $$.
Thanx to all & keep up the good work.

236 people voted now....This is much better turnout :-)

I personally think we have more people on the list that also deserve more votes. People should speak out more about their favorite posters - so everybody in the above list gets decent number of votes, not only a few people .

Unfortunately the list does not cover many other great posters but I guess RFD has to limit the number of nominees somehow...

I'm honoured to be mentioned beside these giants of RFD

up to 200+ now.
but still, not many voted, considering RFD's gi-normous 100k+ population

... that's still <1% of community :-0

It's clear in my mind that DEAL is definitely the best "deal" poster here. I mean, how can we overlook the fact that the guy actually goes in to Costco EVERY WEEK and photographs the unadvertised specials!!!

I also appreciate ag2000's efforts, however deal goes into the store which takes a heck of a lot more effort. Plus, I don't like how ag2000 is soliciting votes in this (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=608560) thread.

+1 , my vote goes to deal.

dont get me wrong, ag2000 is F'ing awesome. but deal goes into the store. every time he posts i always seem to wonder how much time he spent making that for us, and asking nothing in return.

Perhaps you are right and my message did not come across a way I wanted it to come - I would like to thank to those who already voted for me. Those who did not vote yet - they are not forced to vote for me and free to choose their favourite deal poster - we have quite good community capable to make intelligent choices.

Do I like when people vote for me- yes, I do.
Am I thankful to those who voted for me - yes I am
Do I think I am the best deal poster here (after MJM who is already formally voted best deal poster :) )- no I don't. This is exactly what should be determined by the community, not by me.

In this very thread I already mentioned that people should speak up more about their favourite posters - and while you did right thing in this direction, I also think we need people who nominated other contestants to speak up about them as well.

Very classy response.

Not sure if Barayolayosa is aware of it, but I received a PM from Ryan indicating that I should feel free to encourage people to vote for me...I'm sure that the same PM went out to the other nominees.

I received the same email, and started to promote myself, but back off after receiving some negative feed back.

I also notice that Annual Member Award is not a sticky in any of its group threads, which speaks for its self in the number of votes entered.

Dang it's a close race b/w AG and and DEAL right now lol! It's actually pretty exciting hahaha.

I like that AG helps to answer many questions about specific products in every week's flyers, adds his recommended deals for the week, and also is honest as to whether or not a specific product is worth the money when people ask. His thread is very informative, I like it! He got my vote!

I do find it very impressive though that Deal takes all those pictures...I remember going to Costco last week and thinking, "Dang this guy walked up and down all these aisles and took all these pictures...that's craaaaazy LOL"

All in all, regardless who wins, it's members like you guys, the nominees, that definitely make RFD an awesome community. I mean, every forum is gonna have pitiful little fights (like the Zip.ca one on Tuesday afternoon, or the one about "blatant sarcasm" lol in the FS thread today). But great members like you make RFD worth the trip! Keep up the good work!!

I voted for ag2000. his threads are comprehensive, and he took the time to actually PM me once cause he knew there was a particular item I was looking for when it went on sale.

HLW get's my honourable mention though.

SDM and CT are the main stores I shop at, so their threads are the ones I check most often.

Thanks to both of you.

Can someone TELL ME WHY THEY SHOW THE POLL RESULTS???

That is the STUPIDEST THING EVER????

people that don't know these people might just vote for whoever is in the lead already???

WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS? THAT IS NOT FAIR!!!

RFD, Really?

I'm a pure noob and do not know many if not any of these days.. being able to see the poll results totally mislead my choice...

"can someone tell me who is in the lead so i can vote for them"

^^^ that is the perfect example!!!

Voting is totally voluntary procedure. You are not forced to vote - this is not a condition of RFD membership.
Therefore if you do not know any of the posters - you do not need to select "the lead", it does not make sense in any voting procedure.

However - if you decide not to vote - why should you be prevented from seeing the results?
I think it is quite common to post early poll results or early voting results simply because people would like to know the status.

Alternatively you can go to each poster's profile, check the posting history for the entire year, and decide which poster's deals are most appealing to you.

While it may be difficult since all the contestants posted a lot of great deals, I think this is the only way to cast a reasonable vote if you are not familiar with the posters.

Voted for ag2000 cause he's in the lead. We all want to vote for winners. haha.

Actually stupidest thing is to ask for FAIRness in life. Ever read dumbing down our kids' first rule about Life is NOT fair, deal with it.
