I have wanted a juicer for a long time. I bought the 5000 refurbished (which I know is discontinued). They are releasing or have released the 5200 in Canada by now.

I don't see the draw of a $400 blender when costco has them for $60 or less. How is this worth 5 times the cost?

this blender is pretty much amazing.
My mom's had hers for about 8 years and it's still going strong.
I once blended a spoon by accident and the blender was fine.
I wish I could afford one. sigh.

Costco @ downsview has these for $459.99. They have their own little stand set up for few weeks backed up with Costco warranty.

My parents had one for a few years and I recently picked one up myself. Worth every penny!!:cheesygri

This is a blender no matter what you call it, look at iron chef series you'll see the juicer they use, it's called a Champion Juicer thats what you want to get and what will last you 30+ years.
If you like paying a very hefty price for a blender then this is a hot deal.

Seems starnge that a blender could cost so much but....belive me they are amazing. It works like a food processor and a decent commercial food processor will cost 700.00(robo coupe)roughly. The vita-mixwe will puree soup while its hot completly smooth. You can turn peppercorns into powder. if you can afford it buy the commercial model, it has more power.

here is a link to a commercial supplier in the states which has great pricing.
and selection.

I purchased an older used Vitamix on e-bay a few years a go and that thing is great.

For the record, you can also get "blenders" for under $20 if you really want to go cheap. For some people, getting that $60 blender is high end.

I got this Braun for $60 and I don't see what the $400 mixer can do this one won't :

The comercial ones are built to work 24/7, ask yourself how many smoothies you have to make in
an hour before you spend 400 on a blender....

I bought one of these a few years ago and ended up returning it. (not from Costco but through a trade show). The good thing is they stand by their no-hassle return policy.

In the end, I found it was too loud for my needs (Remember, during their demos... and even at most stores, they have these things encased in a plastic box).

I didn't find that I needed the power. I don't cook THAT much to justify it. I was looking forward to the "juicer" type aspect of it but it keeps all of the fruit so I find it hard to drink the result (too fiberous)

My husband's had his vita mix for well over 10 years and it was used the first three years in his coffee shop in Vancouver. Nothing has broken down, it hasn't needed any maintenance and it's still going strong. I made fresh pureed baby food for my daughter, and it warmed it up a bit in winter (like making soup), my husband has made ice cream in it and we love it! I used to have a cheap $50 blender but freecycled it after seeing how much better the vita mix was.

A friend has one and it's far and away better than my black and decker... but it's also $400+ so you better be using this at least 3-4 times a week to make it worthy of a purchase.

If only I didn't want to buy a Dyson first...

And my parents 18 year old Panasonic TV still works too but that's not the point...

People who buy this don't just want a blender. Same as someone who buys a Dyson doesn't just want a vacuum. There are several key reasons why but it really depends on how you value those differences. If you're happy with your champagne coolies stick with it!

vitamix are amazing

i used to work my uncle's coffee shop one summer where i would make about 50 coffee slushies every single day
we had a vitamix for the purpose of making it and it would make the perfect consistency every time with no fuss

i can personally vouch for vitamix
it is one commercial blender that coffee or smoothy shops cant do without

Just got my vita 5000 and made some carrot juice.

Love it.

Now the key is to be this enthusiastic one month and one year from now!

Not sure if you have noticed you can also get the factory reconditioned 5200 from the US website for the same price for those of u that want a newer model.

Anyone know what are reconditioned about these? Anyone get one yet?
