Frigidaire ATF8000ES Washer $719

If anyone is in the market for a new well regarded front load washer I just picked up a Frigidaire ATF8000ES washer for only $719. Not to mention no PST and $60 rebate for Toronto residents. It appears to be a pretty hot buy. http://www.theappliancereview.com/?p=10

It is not advertised on there website, but I can assure they have at least 10 available plus matching dryer. Unfortunately I didn't register the price on the dryer, but will find out when I pick up my washer Sunday. http://www.appliancebuyandsell.com/catalog/

I already bought a good dryer so I wasn't interested anyways.

They are located at Scarborough, Finch and Tapscott. They also carry a lot of scratch and dent appliances, but I wasn't too impressed with the pricing.

$669 is street price in US - we get screwed again buying scratch and dent for higher than Americans buy new

I'd buy this if it was a 4.0 capacity washer. I have a 3.1 and it's too small. 0.4 more doesn't cut it.

$719 isn't far off when you consider $60 Toronto water rebate which brings it down to $659, better than the US street price. And as previously mentioned, all Energy Star appliance are PST exempt until July 17th.

I've had a chance to try my new washing machine this weekend and I'm very impressed with the performance so far. I am amazed how quiet it is, very little water is used, which is kind of freaky when compared to my old top loader. I'm convinced it requires very little energy. 3.5 cubic feet is quite large, the fact you can stuff it full and it knows exactly how much water to add, I likes it :cheesygri

I set everything up myself, which was quite easy actually. Getting the thing in the basement was the challenge at about 200 lbs. Fortunately I had help in that area.

My only concern, and I hope someone with a similar machine has an answer, is that to the left of the control knob where all the different washing modes are listed (normal, delicate, heavy soiled, etc.), it doesn't light up. Is this normal or a defect? I haven't been able to find the answer in the manual or online and the service center is closed at the moment.

I know what mode I'm at by looking at the minutes display and comparing to the manual, (Normal wash mode = 46 minutes) but that seems dumb to have to do that. I hope to get an answer soon, that bugs me.
