 TicketMaster can f*** right off. Fees which double the ticket price? Not interested.

I've started buying from local ticket vendors (Rotate This, Sonic Temple) and will continue to do so. Their fees are a fraction of the TM ones, and go towards supporting local business.

edit: As an example, I recently picked up some tickets for the Rockstar Mayhem Metal Festival.
Face Value: $50
TicketAsster price: $63 !!!
Rotate This Price: $52.25

Decide for yourself who to support.

There is no question that the Ticketmaster fees suck. That stated, if you have any interest in the concerts listed you don't have a choice. This topic is for the discounted TICKETS which are significantly cheaper then the regular ticket rates. Please leave the obvious rant about fees elsewhere.

Your kidding right?

The tickets are $11.11 - and it would say so once you have your ticket in hand.

The service charges were clearly outlined in the first post. It's common knowledge that no matter what the deal posted on this site that there may be additional charges. Whether it be taxes, delivery fees, or anything else. If you don't have the ability to factor that in - well so be it. I am glad some people have benefited from what I posted - but to the others it makes me wonder why I try.

So you searched and linked all the concerts involved? Wow, that's amazing.
Great work for RFD, thanks!

I agree, the title can remain. The deal is $11.11 and Pizza Pizza will advertise it just the same way ... everyone knows that in Canada (and Toronto for that matter) we pay up the yahoo for TicketMaster's services.

I was wondering when something like this might pop up.

Thanks, OP. Great effort on behalf of the community. I agree that TM "service" fees suck, but that's a discussion for another thread. 20 bucks for a concert is still a great deal (have you seen the prices for reserved seating tickets for those shows?! :-0 )

That said, there's a couple shows there that appeal to me. I'm a 40-year-old grumpy old bastard now... it's been probably 10 years since I've been to a concert. What's the lawn seating like? Is it even worth the $20?

AWESOME! I am a regular concert goer ... I just bought tickects to Rod Stewart / Backstreet Boys / Maroon 5.

The prices sure beats the $150 ticket I bought for Bon Jovi! :cheesygri :cheesygri :cheesygri Of course JBJ is WAYYYYYYY cuter and well worth the investment into my 'HAPPY' bank.

Molson Amp lawn seating is pretty cool. The lawn is up on a hill - so you can sit at any level and still see stuff. Just be sure to bring a blanket to sit on.

I don't get this price, the first post said:

TOTAL CHARGES: $41.57

I'm assuming this is for 2 people, so it comes out to about $20 per person, right? So how are local vendor prices a fraction of ticketmaster prices?

Molson Amp lawn seating is pretty cool. The lawn is up on a hill - so you can sit at any level and still see stuff. Just be sure to bring a blanket to sit on.

Just check with the Ampitheatre prior to the show is my best advice. (Don't call Ontario Place, call Live Nation, that's who runs it).
Their site has a set of rules of what you can and cannot bring, though for different concerts I've seen different acts involved.

I was at the Ampitheatre last night (in a seat) and brought a backpack of clothes (we needed it, even with how hot it was yesterday it got pretty damn cold at night!) and an umbrella. At other concerts I've been to, umbrellas were not allowed, or blankets were not allowed, so definitely check first.

The lawns are an event of their own. You'll probably see or smell SOMEONE smoking marijuana and many people lighting cigarettes. There will probably be some people that get up and start dancing in front of you for the entire show, blocking your view no matter what you do.
Actually, for one concert we stood for the headliners' full-set ...
Be prepared for kids running around between where everyone is seated ...
And even though rows SORT-OF form in the lawns (of people) really it's wherever you want to sit goes. So that space you kept in front of you from the next person, come later in the evening someone will be sitting there.
And prepare for the constant mentions by performers about "Hey, you guys back there!!! ... ON THE LAWN!!!" with everyone cheering ...

All in all, it can be a fun experience and truth be told, you're closer to the stage then you are in the opposite end of the ACC or Rogers Centre so, the Ampitheatre is good for events for that reason.
Bring ear plugs if you like ... I'm still having some "distant hearing" problems today after seeing LL Cool J and company last night.

LOL. EVERY concert I have been to had marijuana ... got to the point that I didn't need to bring any smokes even if I wanted to as I was already getting high on the joints the folks around me were smoking. I had one Harley leather clad biker dude twirling around in circles over and over again like a ballerina in front of me clapping his hands (Deep Purple concert). And people stand no matter where you are located. The only thing about lawns is to play the blocking game - block space around you either by yelling really loudly in periodic intervals and dancing like crazy or stretch those legs out or put your drinks out etc so people back off around your area. :cheesygri Enjoy the concerts folks.

I just tried to order the Journey/Cheap Trick tickets too. There is no "Pizza Pizza Special Offer" section like there is on the other concerts. Is this deal over for this concert, or did they just make a mistake?

I haven't been to a concert here in years.. What time do people start lining up at to get good seats on the lawn? I remember when I last went, people lined up for hours, is it still the same way??

EDIT: I was able to get reserved seats for the Great Big Sea Concert.

Oh BTW the Avril show is now sold out!

I would say its pretty much the same, to get the front area/section on the lawns you got to get there early.

I use a different type of strategy, there is no way I am going to get there 3-4 hours earlier to secure a spot in the front area on the lawns. At this stage of my life I value my time more so if I am going to the concert I am simply not going to fight for spots and just show up close to show time and sit all the way in the back (which I have done before) on the lawns. The view is not that much worse off then the front section of the lawns IMO. If I really want a better closer up view then I am simply going to suck it up and pay for a seated ticket closer up to the stage.

Whether its sold out or its a mistake, you can still get lawn tickets. This pizza pizza deal of $11.11 is not as a big deal as some people make it out to be. I think the regular price of some of the lawn seats are like $22-23. So you save about $12 per ticket. As an alternative you can drop in person and buy the tickets and save most of the "charges". The only one I think you still have to pay is the buildling charge. So at the end of the day you can be potentially only ahead by $5-7. No thanks, not enough of an incentive for me to risk a rainy concert outdoors.

If I really want to watch a concert without the risks, buy a seated ticket with roof overhead. Its not fun with rainstorms over your head.

you know what, you are correct, in that some concerts the savings will be more significant. I think there are some where the lawns are like $39 like Mark Knopler.

On the other hand, I have to sometimes wonder how ticketmaster works.
You spent $87 for 2 Backstreet Boys Tickets, the price of each ticket is only $27.50 so how did the final price get so high ? Apparently sometimes ticketmaster or whoever charges $10.50 for convenence charges and sometimes they only charge $4 and change. What gives ?

Yeah - Johnny Van Zant...but hey, to bathe in the lighter/cellphone glow when they play Freebird...besides, to have a blood relative of one of the original members in the band is a whole lot beter than a lot of these dinosaur rock acts touring today...

TicketMaster can be a dumb system. Even for the lawns, it might only let you by 1 and 1. Try buying another 1.
However, there may only be that single seat left, who knows.

For one concert, I purchased 4 tickets.

I've been saying this for years. I've purchased tickets to a sold out concert with fees higher than a concert that doesn't sell out. If the concert is going to sell out (knowingly, lets say Bon Jovi or something) then why do the fees have to be so high compared to something that's not going to sell out?

Why are charges different from concert to concert, even at the same venue?

Why are ticket-purchasers really not let in on what's behind the charges? They have titles but really they have no meaning for the ticket buyer. I think TicketMaster could really set the price to whatever they want and I know of no organization whatsoever that checks-up on TicketMaster and the services they're providing and charges they provide for it.

It's like the 407 until the government stepped in. It's a monopoly of a business. It's disgusting.

I think at least one other person posted that they were trying to purchase these tickets.

As a bonus...I got a link for 1 'free' itunes download per ticket purchase.

Thanks! Was able to order 2 tix for Journey.

It wont let me buy Avril tickets. Aaargh. Been trying for hours.

Someone mentioned they couldn't make the purchase either, meaning it's probably sold out.

With TicketMaster, you never know and another "batch" might pop up ... even a day or two before the show.

But don't quote me on that ... I don't want you to NOT get tickets because you're waiting for Pizza Pizza and TicketMaster to release more.
Just speaking on past experiences of things I've seen happen on TicketMaster.

Thanks OP. Tried to get some Rod Stewart tickets but
nothing was available. Managed to get some Journey
tickets but decided not to drive down from Ottawa.

The $11 ones are for lawn tickets which are regularly $21 so
the discount is not as great as you might think.

TM fee does suck. However, for the pizzapizza deal,
it's been reduced from $8.5 to $3.75 so don't complain
too hard.

You sit on the lawn. No chairs. Don't wear white pants if you don't want a green a$$.

From their website (http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/734):

Government issued photo ID if you are 19+ years of age and planning to purchase and/or consume alcohol. Small back packs are permitted. Outside food brought from home in clear plastic wrap. One sealed bottle of water. Small low profile lawn chairs if sitting on lawns.
