I'm looking to buy a gmaing headset. I looked at the "Creative Fatality Gaming Headset 8FT Noise Canceling Microphone W/ Volume Control" and i was looking for opinions on it. I look around here and the steel headset is out of my price range of $25-50. The only reason i like this headset is that i can take the microphone off and use it as normal headphones. Any suggestions of other headsets and does that fact is says "gaming" increase the price of a headset?

The Crative Fatality Headset is pretty good, but it's nothing special. The ear cups are a bit small, so they do sit on your ears, which will make them hurt after a while.

I loved my Steelseries because the ear cups were large enough that they sat AROUND my ears, not ON them, making them very comfortable to wear for a long time.

The retractable mic on the steelseries is also better than the Creative deatachable mic I find. Much easier to just push it in/pull it out then to attach/detach it, since you need to take the headphones off to get it in properly.

Problem with the Steelseries is the wire quality is crappy.. the right earphone started giving out on me after a year or so. Wiggling the wire near the volume control fixed it on and off.

I just bought the Creative Fatality a few weeks ago, and so far they are good. I just don't like the small ear cups (sits on outer edge of my ears, makes them ache a bit after an hour or more).

i would love to get a nice headset but i buy the cheapo ones since i always end up some how breaking them within a matter of months. usually they fall off to the ground as i am taking them off and i am too lazy to pick them up and then i either step on them or forget they are there and put something heavy on top of them.

the ones both of you guys mention - are they behind the neck or over the head? i would like one of these days to get some behind the neck ones but my head is too big for all the ones i have tried (mostly logitech).

Man for the price of some of these headsets, I would just get a nice high-end pair of headphones and some crappy mic to attach it to. :)
