What thread did you learn the most from? What thread helped you the most? Nominate that thread here and if that thread is voted the most helpful during the Voting Period, the creator of that thread will win a $50 gift card to the store of their choosing, a RedFlagDeals.com T-shirt, and a plaque commemorating the achievement!
Last year felix's Memberworks thread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92936) won the award and it isn't eligible this year, but feel free to give it a little love too. :)

Without a doubt, this THREAD (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=595842)has got to be in the running.
The OP ended up getting $350 + extras, and we all got a great drama. Can't get more "helpful" than that!

Definitely the import a car from the US thread. I saved over $14K with my car, which got the ball rolling amongst family and friends who also imported their own cars after seeing how easy it was. Collectively saved over $60K.

http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=560987
I get numerous PMs from people thanking me and always asking informed questions.
I think any thread that saves a person that much money, and of course points from their driving record, should be the most helpful thread.

As the criteria given was "What thread did you learn the most from? What thread helped you the most?", I had to double, then triple-check this thread because until this post, the ULTIMATE 'learning things' and 'helpful' thread on RFD has not yet been mentioned: "Tell us a secret you know because of your work that others might not know... " (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=582076)
.. posted by 'phillbert' in June of 2006 and, currently at 89 pages of replies, apparently still going strong. :!: Thanks 'phillbert' for the idea, and to everyone who has taken the time to share their knowledge. (If you haven't yet contributed, please do!). Some of it was new to me, some of it was not, and some of it - well, I kinda wish I didn't now know!! (but am thankful that I do!)
But it's good to know about things BEFORE you actually have a need to know it, so that one day, if you find yourself in the particular situation, you can think back and say "Now what was that I learnt about this in the megathread on RFD?"
If for no other reason, I nominate that thread because it had a bit of something for everyone, whereas as helpful as they may be to some, tips on buying cars from the US, getting a free PVR from Rogers, or even how to fight a traffic ticket, etc- are rather limited in scope and applicability.

I am amazed at the longevity of the Bell-HTC Touch thread (nearly 146k views):
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512228
The poster (iZod) is listed as permanently banned, but all the regular posts and flood of relevant information is downright awe inspiring!
SuperCM located an XM trial (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6223500&postcount=682)that resets itself every three days and has been free for the last 6 months.
Others have located aps, games and longer life batteries.
Very reasonable quality phone (original post), reasonable windows pda, decent media player (abandoned the ipod), combined with great unlimited package and a million add ons from the RFD community (see the thread), thusly it gets my nomination.

+1. Lot's of great information in that thread. Runner-up would have to be Shaner's "Ask me anything about Jail" thread, not for because of it's usefulness in our daily lives, but for a rare behind-the-scenes peek into a world which many will never see first-hand.

With almost 2,000,000 reads and national press coverage and the external links to RFD (in both the press and online) the question is really: who will be the runner-up to the monster "Auto Import" thread.
Good luck to everyone.
Thanks to those who vote for my thread.
RFDers are the real winners. The average importer is saving $8000 or more.
