Do i have to contact the magazine services for this? Or will they tack on the remainder of my Blender sub to my Maxim sub?
Thanks!
Just a note to everyone that had a Blender subscription that you will/should be getting Maxim now!
I had so many Blender subs (from them good ole eBay sub days) that I had one going to work because it was a "business" friendly mag. Just checked that address on Maxim's subscriber services and it is registered for 2+ years. Now, I have to decide if I want to keep it going there :) (It's not really that bad, "Us" magazine has bikini celebs all the time).
So... "watch out" for it! :)

For forbes you don't recieve a member number, and what I did was kept trying to change the address every week and sooner or later your account will be in the system. I just used my email, you usually can't change your address using account number since you do not recieve the magazines yet. I changed my address with the email i used and I send an email to their customer service to make sure I was in the system. So far I've recieved 3 issues of Muscle & Fitness. Just make sure you keep checking and email them just to verify you got into their system.

Do you have to wait a while after your account becomes active to change your address? I have been periodically checking the Forbes subscription I signed up for a week or 2 ago and it's finally in the system and it says my account is "Active Paid" and my first issue will be Aug 24, 2009.
I tried changing the address but the page just reloads with the same original US address. Doesn't give me any sort of error either.
EDIT: Turns out that it did infact change my address, I just wasn't notified on the page that loaded. When i clicked back to the main page of my account I saw this in red:
Your address changes below have been recorded and will be changed within 2 working days.

I'm not sure if this signup page also has the 13 character limit on City... but the address I'm using is a lot longer.. so I tried with the full city name and abbreviated..
Abbreviated:
On the same page as the form submitted...
"We could not locate your record. Please try again."
Full city name:
Bounces back to original change-address page..
We could not locate your record. Please try again. If you updated your email address, it may take up to 2 days to reflect.
I can't seem to get passed this point.. although I'm not sure if it's because my city name is too long or not.. (On the Oprah magazine subscription, it does complain that the city name is too long)

I'm running into a problem that I'm hoping someone else has experienced. In the past two days, I've tried to change my address for O Magazine and Town and Country. For both of them, when I put in the US address, an account summary page opens with my account number and my cdn address ... which I haven't provided them with yet. All the spaces after the magazine info (expiry date, paid status, etc. are blank) There's also a screen below that states "Summary of all Accounts" and lists my Esquire magazine account. It states the number of issues, etc remaining for that magazine. As for account number, I compared the acct number for Town and Country and O Magazine and its the same number as the Esquire account. Its like they're all linked somehow based on my US address but it doesn't show me as having a subscription for O Mag or T&C ... any idea what's happening? Anyone have the same thing happen and eventually get the magazines?
I also contacted Muscle and Fitness the other day to change the address and had Shape contact me back with an account number ... for Shape. I did apply for a Shape subscription but I didn't try to change it yet. They changed my Shape address by email. They also said they had no record of a M&F subscription.

Just picked up a Maxim in my mailbox today with a sticker saying something like:
"Blender is no longer being sent out, so your subscription is being transferred to Maxim. If you already have a Maxim subscription, it will be added to the end of the sub period."

Tried to change my address for Psychology Today. There was no option to check a province - only a state - in a drop down box. I tried to leave it out, but then I get a message saying that my Canadian postal code does not match the province.
Did anybody encounter such problem?

At http://www.psychologytoday.com/site-help/customer-service enter all the info of your American address in the US section to obtain your Subscription Number. Then go back to the main Customer Info page, choose Canada and login with your Subscription Number to put in you change of address.

At the bottom of the first page click on:
I don't have my account number, what should I do?
Then scroll to the bottom where you input your name, address, etc. If that fails a couple of times you are given the option to email them for assistance.
Thanks for the info, i tried this and it worked. Should get my first issue soon.

I"ve tried twice to get Muscle and Fitness with no luck. I've even emailed and have been told they have no record of my subscription. Waiting for it to come around again so I can give it another shot. Same thing happened my first time with Shape but successfully changed the address by email the second time around. Keep trying.

i emailed them on saturday asking about my account number and received a response today where they said they have no record of me in their database. I'll give it another 2 weeks or so and see what happens. How long does it normally take for the ppl that have done this before?
Also i fired off a quick email to maxim on saturday, basically telling them that my subscription was cancelled without my knowledge and for them to either reactivate it or provide me a reason as to why it was cancelled. They replied today and i got the same message that most ppl are getting. Thats it been reactivated and it should show up on their systems in 7-10 days.

If I remember correctly I used to be able to change about 3-4 weeks after signing up. Note though I only was able to do that with egm. The other ones I was never able to change at all and I just gave up after 2 mths.
I also received the same email as everyone else regarding the maxim mags.

A different buysub.com subscription I had munged the address...

Try sending them an email with your email and the address you signed up with. SHAPE magazine would not let me log in for weeks so finally I emailed them and told them I couldn't access my account and I wanted an address change.
Couple days later they emailed back confirming the change and my new info works to log in.
Shape and Muscle & Fitness both have the same parent company so it might not hurt to try.

No it's not instant.
You have to wait for the third party you are getting the free subscription through (ie. RewardsGold) to order your subscription.
Can take a few weeks to a month it seems. So it's best to try to sign in with your US info every few days to see if the account is active yet.
Than you can usually change your address and it usually takes a week or two to take effect depending on the magazine.
All in all sometimes you lose out on the first issue or two and sometimes you don't, it seems to depend on the magazine (O magazine for example is speedy).
edit: forgot to add, yeah that is the site. If it doesn't have the link to your magazine I usually do a quick google search for the magazines main site and usually at the bottom of the page you can find a subscribers services link (Motor Trend magazine for example)

Has anyone ever seen one for Racer Magazine? I can't buy it from the newsstand here in Saskatoon anymore, but it is still being published.
Does Rolling Stone or any of the British "lads" magazines (FHM, Loaded etc.)?

You don't need an email to change the address. Just make sure you remember your US address when you go to SPIN's website, as that is all the login is for it.

I am sure you can just use a new account (your US address) than when the time comes to change your address, use the one you want to stack with and it should stack onto it. If there is any problems you should be able to shoot them an email and just tell them you want it on one account, I am sure they would not have a problem.

Thanks for the reponse Bob. I attempt to change my address on the Muscle And Fitness website. I put in my email but it is still unable to access my account and brings me to a costomer care email form. So I assume I should wait until it reconizes my email or should I send a customer care form asking them to switch over my mailing address?

1- When i go to the sigup page it says esquire free sub but as i msigning up it asks me which free magazines i want, you have to select atleast one, and esq is not one of them. do they automatically send esquire with this additional free one?
2- i used the following link to change my address, or rather atleast see how i would change the address in couple of weeks, but i get some sort of site error. does anybody know how else i can change the address, or if these links tend to go on and off time to time?

On some magazine sites, once you log on to your account, you can contact them to let them know that you missed an issue and they will either send you a copy of it, or credit you for an extra issue. It is usually the latter, which will extend your subscription by one issue.

When you use this 'system' to extend your subscriptions, are you still using the american address that you used to sign up for the magazine the first time? Because they will always ask for your e-mail address when you are filling in the form and I'm pretty sure they've linked your e-mail to your canadian address. Do you go ahead and sign up with the American address and they automatically link the extension with your current address? Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

That is hardly aggressive, if you thought about your question before asking it, you would realize it is impossible to answer. We don't know when you signed up, what magazine you signed up for, what hours the worker who transitions subscriptions is working, etc.

First you should practice hat you preach and actually READ the question before posting a smart aleck answer and second if you didn't want to answer it you didn't have to. You wasted even more time coming up with your answer to my "impossible" question. As I said calm down it's not that serious, just free magazines here.

They replied asking me how I ordered my subscription (presumably, I guess, because they don't have a record of me). Did anyone else get this from them....how did you handle (telling them you went through rewardsgold (or whatever website you did use)) and what was the result?
Thanks!

Go to the respective website for each magazine and find their customer or subscriber service dept. and try logging in or else go to contact us section and send them an email asking to change address. It is an embarrassingly simple process, all it takes is some time to look on their website. Or you can look through this thread and find the link with all the magazine change of address pages.

I think calling it 'a shame' is a bit much ;) It used to be much better. If the rest of the magazines in the portfolio are any indication i.e. Stuff and Blender then Maxim is soon to bite the dust.

Make sure you use a valid address or else USPS won't even accept the package from the magazine company. I didn't understand that the addresses had to be valid until I emailed one of the companies and they said it was rejected by USPS due to an invalid address.

I guess you didn't read the first post in this thread as Ryan originally created it for a rfd + tradepubs deal for legit Canadian free magazines. It is a common mistake. Technically you re-posted a US subscription and it should be in the other thread. If you read the original post in this thread you will see your re-post of a deal technically fits better in the other thread. I don't blame you for the error. Hardly anyone reads the first post.

No one says it doesn't. People can post and respond. The spirit of the thread is for free Canadian magazines where you don't need to change your address. The other thread is more suitable for magazines where you need to change your address. I am not debating if one can post in here or not, simply that it would be better served to use each thread for its intended magazines.
People will ignore this and it will get buried anyways in a few pages so I'm not sure why I am bothering to type this out.

Yeah - Im not sure why the US magazines all began to be posted in the free cdn business magazine thread. Funny thing is this thread had fewer then 100 posts in its first two years, then 1400 posts in 3 years since the US mags in Canada thread was created.

Personally I think this thread is absolutely fine for US Mag posts, especially since it's far de-railed from the original post and has been for some time. Not to mention the "other" thread is a "how-to". Neither thread is suitable according to Wildlele's logic.
Lol...and since when do newbies crawl out of the woodwork and start moderating threads? A "proper" mod may want to step in and establish what should be posted where.

I fully agree, it has trolls showing up now. We need a mod to slap some sense into people.

You will never receive an email with your account number. Also your rewardsgold member # is meaningless, it has nothing to do with magazines. To change your address you need the address and name you signed up with and input that on the publishers web site.

I've asked this before as well, and the response that i got from someone was that it 'depends'... so for some magazines you need to re-log in and change your address again, and they'll add the years on to your original subscription, and for others, they'll send you TWO of the same copy to your address every month. not sure though which ones...

I did this with Forbes magazine.
I signed up with a US address in May, then changed to my Canadian address.
When I repeated the process in August, I ended up getting two copies of the magazine in September.
I phoned customer service- the CSR saw that the subscription came from "an outside agency", and apologized for messing up. She credited my account for the duplicate issue and combined the two subscriptions into one account. YMMV with other magazines.

Time warner link for friends and family rate for their magazines. American Addresses only.
Entertainment weekly $10 (US dollars) for 55 issues.
I ordered People magazine yesterday and was able to change to my Canadian address today. So not bad waiting time.
(I apologize if this is in the wrong spot, moderators, please move if this is the case)

how did you fill in the bill to info? Did you set it up as a subscription? What about your CC # info? I am assuming it won't work since the address would be different then whats on the credit card.

I'm a long time subscriber to Entertainment Weekly and saw the offer for $10 a year, which is great compared to the $73 i've been paying.
My subscription ends in Feb, does anyone know if it will automatically add on to my account or will I get double issues.
Thanks so much.

I fail to see how pictures of women not wearing any clothes can be something undesirable to have in one's house.
I know not everyone is like me though so if that makes you uncomfortable, so be it.

Some of us have kids.
Once you have kids, and especially if you have a daughter, you will know why you don't want a magazine such as Penthouse lying around your house.
But then again, maybe you will. :o

Ok this will save you (and others) time. Go back several pages, and read what others have posted. it explains everything (how to sign up, how to change your address, how long to wait).
It's also quite easy to google "Magazine XYZ customer service". you will get their customer service page, then you click on "subscription services"... and follow the instructions.... BAM!

There are some good ones like Popular Science, Cosmopolitan and Travel and Leisure.
Anyway, USA addresses only, you know the trick.
One thing from past experience with Amazon, it's usually processed in under a week, giving you lots of time to change your address so you wont miss an issue!
