Very very basic mower ... no bag or mulch it seems. Sometimes a lawn mower that you are going to keep for years just seems like something you should not cheap out on. But having said that, I am sure this will suit someones needs quite well. Nice find.

Having just bought a self-propelled 3way craftsman mower last fall, I am sorely tempted by this. It looks SO much lighter than mine. Maybe you could even pull it back? Unless you have a nice square lot, think twice about more 'features'. Features are great, but weight is important too!

I had a lawnmower (just like this one but with a Techumseth motor) lasted 25 years...... sometimes cheap = simple and less complicated = last longer.

Went for the lawnmower...none in store except for a demo sample at Fairview Mall. Place order and paid to pick up next Sunday. Good for my dad.

Not to be the bad bearer of news but...

-its a gas mower
-it received a 1.5 star out of 5 review average of 3 reviewers on sears.ca! The problems consisted of not turning on sometimes and how it had to be serviced twice in a row for one customer!

To be honest I never heard of a brand called Weed Eater.

Only one of the biggest makers of gas trimmers...

And 3 whole reviewers on .ca - what a great sample size.

three is enough to go navigating through sears.ca a painful procedure I might add to leave a review of some sort.

Explains why all the satisfied customers didn't bother to leave a review.

hi
when we went during the timed sale, they only had 18 and all were gone.
paid for one at the $99 price and picked it up last night.
box is compact(fit in trunk of 2003 Hyundai accent).
very easy assembly, take out of box, lock lower bar into position and attach upper bar with two thumb screws.insert safety bar into hole in one side of bar.
fill up with oil(supplied in box)
fill up with gas.
adjust wheels to required height.
push primer 3 times and it started first pull.
seems quieter than our 12yr old craftsman.
mowed 1/4 acre with level and hilly terrain, worked very well.
mowers seems quite a bit lighter than our older one, probably due to a lighter engine and deck.

i stopped the mower numerous times while mowing to test how easy it would start when hot,it started after one pull every time.
one complaint would be that the pull cord has very little spare cord and it is tight when starting(pulling the engine to start)you can feel the end of the
cord and a couple more inches would have been nice(insert joke here).

all in all, after one use it sees fine for the $99 paid.
i probably should have picked up another one at that price.
i would say that if you keep it outdoors it will probably rust very quickly.
box said manufactured in china for sears.

regards,jeff

we have an older 3.5hp no frills and a full featured 6.5hp and the small light weight unit is what gets pulled out and used 7 times out of 10.
$99 is a great deal!

I did picked it up on Sunday but my dad wanted something else. Anyone wants this at the $99 plus taxes that I paid for this. The box has not been opened yet. Located at Leslie and Steeles area.

Update:
Just Sold...Just notice in the fliers...that they were selling her at $159.00 today

Just used mine today. Worked great. Had a problem restarting it, until I realised the spark plug top had come off. Put the top back on and it started right away. Compared to my older mower it idled slower and didn't shoot the grass out as far, but after thinking about it, I think this is better. Seemed to use less gas than my old one (3.5 hp).

The lowest wheel setting scraped the ground. The second lowest left almost no grass and every bump seemed to leave a bald patch. The third seemed to be the best, but was still a little lower than my last mower.

Very happy with it so far.

How often do the Sears timed specials occur and what is the likelihood that the Weed Eater special for $99.00 will be repeated? Also, if I find the Sears ad do you think other stores will match it?

I have some time before I need to buy a mower for a small flat yard area, want the most simplistic and lowest cost mower that won't break down after a year or two. any ideas out there?
