ncix has the OEM version for cheaper and it comes with Lost Planet for free....
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=29316&vpn=EU80569PJ067N&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1019.
if you'rea guy that has no intentions of doing any OCing or high end gaming the PCV deal is better
if you want to get your moneys worth out of this thing and OC it to 3.5Ghz the NCIX deal is better

Very Important:
OEM Warranty: 1 Year.
Retail Warranty: 3 Years.
Especially for overclocking. I'll pay the extra $11 and get a fan I don't need to get the full warranty.

if you're gonna damage a cpu OCing it you're gonna damage it pretty quickly... and intel doesn't cover damaged caused buy OCing in their warranties anyways

Having been a tech at a computer shop for a few years now, I've RMA'd many many Intel CPU's without any problem.
The only time Intel will refuse an RMA is when it is physically cooked. Most overclockers won't actually fry a chip, but the gradual decrease in the chips life from running 1-2GHz faster than intended will cut the life significantly, at which point Intel will RMA the chip.

Q9450 is scheduled to be phased out in Q3 ...
Q9550 will take over its spot ... The half-cache (6MB) version Q9400 will also show up at the same time ...

If I don't plan to overclock it, would the fan that comes with the retail box be a sufficient fan?

Concurred. You would be surprised by how easy it is to RMA Intel CPUs...

It's more than adequate for stock speeds, as well as some light'ish overclocking.

I would for it to go down a bit more before I think about upgrading my rig.

Sometimes the stock fan can be really loud.

some people told me that when i started my encoding pc, telling me to find a fan. My fan runs max speed all time because all 4 cores are 100% usage all time, and i don't hear squat.

I bought an x3350 three weeks ago for $350 so i don't see what's hot about Q9450 at $350.

I bet not everyone got the x3350 for $350 and might not still. For the ones who are looking for a Q9450, this might be a decent deal considering the prices and other online retailers.

Sounds great..
Can someone tell what Ncix return policy is like..
I just ordered a Q9300 and eVGA 750i motherboard, the cpu came yesterday but the board was backordered, but was shipped yesterday from Vancover..
Now I paid the same money for the Q9300 and eVGA board as I can now get the Q9450 and same board for shipped..
Is there a way they can send me the Q9450 if I send back the Q9300 it is not opened yet..

DO not buy FROM PCVONLINE
i bought E8400 2 weeks ago from PCvonline local store
i tried to OC it, u know what?
it can't be stable at 3.8 Ghz while most of E8400 can stay at 4.0Ghz at least,
So i searched on internet (i have Evga 680SLI A1 re2 mobo), they saying there are few E8400 with low quality of OC compare to most of them because of voltage thing.
then i tried to return it, they told me "no" even i would pay Restock fee
so it is explains why PCvonline always has low price ON cpus

Are you saying you tried to return a cpu because it would not overclock well for you?
Then you expect the store to take back an open box cpu because of that which they have no control over..
You blame PCVonline for buying the problem cpu's from Intel and selling cheaper than anyone else because they don'r overclock very well..
Last I checked there is no guarentee to overclocking, even with identicle parts..as the saying goes YMMV....:cheesygri

Poor overclocking ability is a poor excuse to return something. It's ridiculous to request someone for a refund because a product does not perform beyond its rated expectations. Plus...the fact that you overclocked at all voids your warranty so you're entitled to nothing. (and by "you", I mean vincentkfc, not you Jamie ;))
Also, PCV doesn't have any control over what type of CPUs they get. If they receive the lemons from Intel, they can't help it. When you buy from them, it's just as likely that you get a crappy OC'er as compared to if you buy from NCIX. Either way though, it's not right to expect a refund/exchange in this particular situation. I mean, the product works fine at its rated speed...I fail to see what's wrong with it.

The point is it's NOT a lemon when it runs to spec. Childrens do complain when they get what they pay for. Generation of whiners, Sad indeed.
