What does this have to do with the Wii?the sales has nothing to w/ wii. it's superstore's no gst/pst tax event. i'm guessing double gst discount for alberta as always. op's from winnipeg. wonder if east has the same discount on these days.

They've thought of this already. There's a 24 hr hold on returned merchandise. On top of that, there are no returns during the No Tax event hours.

do they charge restocking fee! if they do not, do not keep the box when you return. No one want to keep the open box stuff, give them little pressure.

this way will dishonestly!

So how does this work? Can you go there when it opens and just hold onto whatever item you want to buy and just check out at 5?

I just went to the superstore website and looked at both the west and east flyers... doesn't say anything about no tax event

OP do you have the source or a scan of the flyer would be nice, since it would be great to know if this is a West only deal or if the Easterners can get in on some action too.

lol... your time must not be worth much...haha

on the other hand... I suppose you could pay a homeless person to do it.

Gotta love the schemes that rfd'ers come up with sometimes.

Well I was just wondering how early you'd have to show up...but yeah I'm not that crazy to save 13% Though if you're allowed to buy several and make a profit...

While getting there at opening is indeed crazy, *lots* of people go a little early in our city. People roaming around with BBQs and carts full of Joe clothes just before the sale starts. Especially for the no tax events that start at 9PM. The place gets momentariy jammed. At our store they sound a bell and make an announcement and there's a bit of a dash for the checkout lines.

Funnily enough, though, there are still people checking out 3 mins before the sale starts.

When we had some large purchases to make we went 1/2 hour early which was about as much as I would willingly tolerate. It got a little tedious as it jammed up closer to the hour.

Ahh, thanks OP for scanning the flyer..

I see this is a west only thing, I guess the eastern market is good enough so that they don't need to do it for us which is dumb because if they would do it, it would definitely clear lots of stock

maybe this depends on the store/location/prov., but Wiis can still be hard to find.

i'm sure i'm not the only one in this situation, but i still go to FS/BB/BBV/EBG/RCSS/Zellers/etc. and there are still signs saying they are "Sorry, we're currently OOS on Wiis"

Yep, that's what happens, I was told people were there approx 45min to 1hr ahead of the no tax event. I guess they decided on some sort of queue/line b/c I doubt they would let you walk off with a Wii without paying for it first. They had about 12 Wiis at the Richmond, BC location.

The GST/PST savings are worth approx $29. That's after tax making it probably $35-40 before income taxes. So if you make less than $35/hr, it's worth your effort to wait for the Wii. I guess if you have a family, they can shop while you wait for the Wii. And I guess for some, you got the bragging right to say you managed to buy it for tax free! :D

Because people in the West get screwed with the Dell Days deals for being 1-3 hours behind EST :)

(Although with the recent offerings from Dell so far, it's negligible!)

i'm just lifting the titles off a search on "superstore tax free event" on rfd:
"RCSS 40GB PS3 $379.98, PSP $159.98 tax free Apr 10-11 (West) & Apr 11-13 (ON)"
"Tax Free EVENT again Superstore (rcss) ONTARIO, This Weekend (Fri, Apr 11-13)"
"[Merged] Ontario only - Superstore Feb. 22-24 5pm to close - Tax Free event"
"RCSS (East): Tax free weekend (Nov23-24) and $30 off $250 purchase coupon (til Nov22)"
"[Merged] RCSS West - Tax Free on Nov 15 & 16th from 5pm til Closing"

You beat me to post that. I took advantage of last tax free event and bought my patio furniture back in April at Grimsby Superstore. We get just as many tax free events as the West.
