Puerto Plata in the summer?

I'm thinking of going to Puerto Plata at the end of June and I would like to know if anyone has been in the summer?

How is the weather? Do you see tourists in the resort or are you by yourself? Any hotels that you would recommend?

My bf and I travel to the Caribbean/South America every summer, and not once has it been stiflingly hot...it's usually in the low 30's, but it's a dry heat. It's usually death when we get back to Toronto and with the humidity you can't breathe.

In any case, we're going to Punta Cana for the last week of June. Can't wait!

How are the resorts? Still lots of people?

In the summer, you tend to get:

A) Lots of honeymooners from North America
B) Lots of families from Europe (mostly the UK and Germany)
