I am going to Paris, France with my parents in about a month for 10 days. We were planning to go see the Eiffel tower and then walk around town to shopping malls and stuff.
Any suggestion to go while in Paris, what to do?
Stupid question but do they speak English there?
thank you,
Chris

I never get why people say they want to go places, book the tickets, and then ask what to do there.
Anyways, there are a bunch of museums, churches, galleries you can take a tour in.
Go to the Louvre, or walk down the Champs-Élysées.
And yeah they speak English there, but don't be ignorant and try to learn some french before going.
You should get by with the common phrases.

I suggest searching through the many 'what to do' in Paris threads.

many places...
Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Thromphe (sp?), Notre Dame, Sacred Coeur, Musee D'Orsay
You will probably have to spend 2-3 days at the Louvre in order to see everything... it is that big. I made the mistake of getting the whole package for the Louvre (including the temporary exhibitions) and I found myself rushing through the 1st floor just to see everything.
if you stick near the attractions and downtown areas, transportation hubs, their english is quite good as they have alot of visitors from over the world.

Go to the library or bookstore, get a travel guide on the city, and read it. You will then magically have the knowledge you need! One place just outside the city I really enjoyed was the Palace of Versailles.
And yes, they speak English there although it's highly recommended you at least learn the phrase, "Bonjour, parlez-vous anglais, monsieur/madame" (Hello, do you speak English sir/madam?) when asking someone a question instead of starting immediately in English.

If you're there for 10 days and don't mind spending a day or two outside the city, consider taking a train into Normandy. Rouen, Dieppe, Caen, all great cities to visit and really easy to get to via train (go in the morning, return in the evening kind of thing)

BTW, they don't really have shopping "malls" persay...
Not all that common in Paris downtown at least!
I mean, they have department stores, but not really "malls"...
So much to do there, also hit up all the neighbourhoods and walk around. Markets, street entertainers, etc,etc

There's actually a big underground shopping mall right in the centre of Paris called Les Halles. I remember waiting out a rainstorm in that mall... :)

Do you think his parents will let him do that? :)
As for do they speak English in France (that is where Paris is by the way).....only if they want to and that is not often.
Parisians are jerks (only my opinion). You will get more help from fellow tourists than you will from a Parisian.

I am turning 20 years old in 13 days so i don't think my parents wouldn't mind me drinking a bit.
I do not have a GF current so maybe i can get a girl to temp. hang out. I like those girls who speaks english with a French accent ... been to Montreal, and Quebec City a few time and I kind think it's hot when pretty french girls with the accents speak English

Hope you realize the french there is nothing like that in Quebec. My wife speaks perfect french but has a English accent, (schooled in Windsor) and most of the time she spoke French they would respond in English. Learn some of the common words especially for food, or you might order some very interesting dishes.
Anyways I hope you like musuems or shopping, you can wonder around the trendy shops (Champs-Élysées) for a day or 2. Take a boat tour down the seine river, go to Napoleon's tomb.
