Anything goes here. Sometimes the cottage traffic is horrendous. Sometimes the back roads can save you time if they're not busy.

What is your preferred route (hopefully fastest) to get to Wasaga Beach??

From Mississauga, take the Airport Road all the way.

Hmm....supposed to be nice tomorrow, maybe I pull the kids from school and spend the day up there. We're celebrating the end of EQAO :cheesygri

I go Hwy 10 up to 9 and then Airport Rd as well.

I just suggest you don't take the George Johnson Road route (that's the north pointing arrow on your map) It's under construction and has lots of delays.

I usually take the route through Angus. A few spots where you have to slow down but overall less busy then 26.

Its not that bad, if you drive during normal working hours m-f, you will be delayed like 5-7 minutes. I drive through this road every day to and from work, not normally too much of an issue. That is the way I would go, with some small changes though, before you get to the lights where the gas station and Elmvale Drive in is, turn on the road before that, so you can get down into the back of wasaga without the terrible traffic on Hwy 27(i think thats the road from Elmvale to Wasaga).

My mother lives there, so I've driven to Wasaga from Burlington many times. Fastest route I've been able to find is 407 to 410, follow 410 to very end (new extension helps here), turn right, follow to Airport rd, then up Airport road to Wasaga.

This takes me 1hr45min, doing a bit over the speed limit, but not enough to worry about getting pulled over. You can take 403 through Mississauga instead of 407, takes a bit longer, or a lot longer if there is traffic.

Up the 400 is about the slowest way to get there, from the Oakvile area.

Sounds like Airport Road is a winner. Is it 2-lanes or 4-lanes? It sucks to be stuck behind an RV or slow transport truck with no way to pass.

Airport road is closed for construction at the highway 26 terminus.

What's the detour around it?

No idea, I was going across 26 to collingwood and noticed. They have some nice construction equipment parked blocking the road too.

The roads are grid pattern up there anyways. Take a look at the map before you go (or buy a paper map) and just make your own detour. Tough to get lost, just try and avoid the gravel roads.

I was there Saturday, and trust me Airport road is closed AT Highway 26. Not sure how much farther into airport road is closed, or how long it will be. However at the terminus its closed. I even confirmed with my friend who lives in Collingwood.

I hope you don't think I'm making this up. They had those digital sign boards informing you that it was closed.

I was in Collingwood over the weekend, and 26 wasn't closed. I did see signs about airport road closures, but didn't actually read them
Also, I would guess that Airport road is a county road.

If you had read my posts on the previous page you would note that AIRPORT road is closed AT Highway 26. Post #19 would be confusing if you didn't read the entire thread.

Highway 26 is open.

However your post also does back me up that airport road is infact closed at the highway 26 terminus.

Can anyone confirm if airport road is still closed at the 26 terminus?

Going on Monday :(
