If you were going to bother to get a shredder to shred some documents, you should get at least a crosscut shredder.
Staples has one on sale for $24.84 which looks similar to the one originally posted.

if you follow this it will last long, if every year you find like 500 papers that you want to shred (invoices, school paper, calling friends to shred things, whatever) and you do all these in about 2 hours, say byebye machine, i know i did it :cheesygri

I bought this one from walmart a year ago. It is pretty good! 19.99 E.D.L.P.

I have a dilemma when tossing out the paper strips. Do i put em' in a clear bag and expect the guy to treat it like recycle? I know some garbage worker would treat them as real trash:(

Ditto. I bought a cheapie stripcut, and I wish I spent more on a crosscut. You're better off with a steel can and a pack of matches than stripcut. What we need are "memory tubes" like in 1984.

spking of WM shredder deals, you can't beat the "Mainstays" ones that went on clearance for $10 a while back
a mix of stripcut/crosscut shredders went on clearance, and certain ones dropped to as low as $3 :!: now that's a deal! :D

I got a different one from Wal-Mart, also 19.99 cross cut, also has a slot for credit card last December, still working fine.
The manual said to lubricate the cutter and prolong its life, just use a sheet soaked with oil and pass it through!? Anyone try that?
I always put the paper strips in the recycle bin.
