If I am going to travel for a couple months, should I be leaving my mailbox as is? (I am thinking about putting a note and stick it on the mailbox, asking not to have magazines or junk flyers be put into the mailbox).. Is this a good method to ensure that the mailbox don't overflow for the time that I was gone?
btw I am living in an apartment so the size of my mailbox is very limited

In my condo, I get my security to empty it out and hold the stuff if I'm away for more than a week at a time.
In an apartment, if your box gets too full and you can't send someone to empty it, you will be carded and your mail will be held at the post office. You can go and pick it up when you return like you would any package.
I believe you can also call ahead and tell them you will be away and to hold the mail for you at the post office. But I've never done this.

you can put a hold on your mail at the post office. Don't just leave a note.
Poke around at canada posts site perhaps you can even do it online.

Get a neighbor (or relative) to check it and hold whatever comes for you.

Get a friend or neighbour to empty it for you every couple of days.. better yet get a relative (they are bound by blood to help you!)
