As the title states, I remember awhile back, they said passport would be required...
is my licence and citizenship still good enough?
I may need to go soon, and wonder if I need to pull out a passport application or no??
Also, I may be traveling with my God-daughter...
different last names (obviously) and all that, will they hassle me? she is 13, and I am 32...
and last but not least, I have an iphone, can they consfiscate that saying these don't belong in Canada, etc...??
I mean, I don't have a receipt, can I get a green card for it at Canada Customs before I enter?
The trip would be to hit up a six flags in ohio and have a blast as it rivals wonderland!!

If driving, yes, drivers license is OK but, get a passport. You will need one soon anyway. We are already having problems with wait times for passports, can you imagine what it will be like (and all the crying on this forum) when the Americans really start to enforce THEIR regulations.
Asa for your 13 year old, this may cause a problem she is a minor, get letters of permission from her parents for her.
As for the iPhone, it is always a good idea to register electronics. 99.9% of the time it does not matter but....

ok, thanks for the info.
yeah, she is my EX's child, but we're all on excellent terms now, and I take her out every other weekend. I've gone all over T.O. and surrounding with her, wonderland, ex, cn tower, and so on and so on, I'd like to go somewhere fun, but economical too, and I'd hate to have to turn around at the boarder...!

You absolutely need gov't issued photo ID and proof of citizenship. Your god daughter will need her birth certificate. Because she is a minor not related to you, you will also need a signed letter of consent with her parents full contact information. If her parents are split up it could be tricky as technically a letter will be required from her non-custodial parent as well. The US guys can be real sticklers for this stuff and will often check for these documaents and even call (hence the need for full contact info in the letters).

might be a problem.. the mother is ok, but the father hasn't been in her life for years and years....
the only way to find him is at the local bar in a drunken stooper prob. covered in his own feces... seriously....

Without a letter from the non-custodial parent it could be a real crap shoot if they let you bring her into the US. We've been through this regularly as we quite often take our kids friends with us to the US for things like Darien Lake or Ransomville. They require the letters because of parental and stranger abductions. One of our kids friends has parents that split up and we had a US Immigration guy tell us that the letter from the non-custodial was required. The kid's situation was similar to what you describe and after the US Immigration questioned the kid ( he's met his sperm donor 4 times in 8 years)and phoned the mother we were cleared to enter. That mother has now taken legal steps and got the required paperwork that it's not a problem now.
