I will be driving from Toronto to Montreal on morning of 8th and will try to see as much of the city as possible
being an F1 fan, i know the grandprix is happening that day but i dont think i can make it in time so ill be missing it
ill also have to leave montreal on the 9th in the morning to go back to toronto to catch the afternoon flight back to vancouver
so basically i just get half a day in montreal
i know its tight schedule thats why i need advice on fitting the best parts of montreal into it :D
Also where do you recommend on staying (ill be driving a rental car)
thanks in advance!!

Next best thing, check out the hot cars on Crescent street. A trip to the old port and old Montreal might be nice also. Depends on your interests really. Music, concerts, food, clubs, architecture, etc...

Can you bring me back 2 dozen bagels and some smoked meat?
Seriously, I want bagels. Also, head to rue St. Laurant (not sure if I spelled that right) for some of the best places to buy smoked meat sandwiches. Schwartz's Deli is good too. There are some good eating places on Prince Arthur.

If you want bagels, you HAVE to grab St. Viateur Bagels. No doubt the best bagels in Montreal.
They even take orders to ship Canada wide now.

Kind of obvious: http://www.stviateurbagel.com
Yes they do ship to Canada. Expensive (40$ for 6dz) but cheaper then going to Montreal from BC

Thanks for the link. Not all websites have obvious addresses.
The $40 for the bagels isn't bad, but it's another $43 to ship that will cause me to think for a bit.

You may want to check to see if any of the downtown streets are closed off due to any F1 festivities.
Last year we went (by car) to the MTL Jazz festival and we couldn't get to our downtown hotel because much of the downtown core was shut down to cars for a good part of the day. I wished we knew that in advance as it cost us about 2-3 hours and lots of frustration plus a "humorous" (in hindsight) incident with local police.
I don't know if they plan anything that for F1 but it's something to consider.

They ship now? Awesome! I bought 2 dozen the last time I was in Montreal and stocked them up in my freezer. They are sooooo good!

Well this was helpful for me as I'll be there from June 14th-17th. I have the 15th to check out sites. Probably hit up a club on the 14th.
