I have been to a few interviews this week and I expect to receive a job offer on Monday from one of the companies that I've met with, say company A. It's a great position and I do want the job. However, I'm more excited about another interview I had, with company B.

How would I delay the job offer from company A so I could wait for word from company B?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm not sure of the type of position, but in most cases it isn't necessary to immediately accept a job offer. If they offer you the job, they should send you a written offer of employment. Ask to have a few days to review the offer. This may or may not work but in most cases, this is standard.

Depending how far along you are with the other company, you can give them a call and tell them you are very interested in employment with them but you have another job offer that you need to respond to by X date. Stress that you would prefer to work for them and see if they can update you on the status of their hiring process.

I would mention to B and if they cannot commit by the time you have to respond to A, then I'd go with A. Be honest. I have been in the same position, except I knew that B would come through, at the start of the process, I mentioned to A that I was interviewing at B as well and I let them know that B was more of an upward move for me....A and I still went through 4 weeks of interview processes...
