Hey guys,

I graduated last year with a B.Sc. in Pharmacology with no real interest in my degree out west. I tried applying as lab technician, pharmaceutical sales rep, anything in clinical studies (entry and mid level) with barely any interviews at all. I am considering moving out east to see if I can get something there. anybody recommend this at all? any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,

Is your degree inclusive of Pharmacist? There's a bunch of postings on the Fraser Health network for those positions. Try workopolis....enter your specialty and see what it comes up with for BC. I used to live in TO-I prefer the West though (much more laid back, and it's HOME).

Thanks for the reply. I have a degree in Pharmacology not Pharmacy. They are similar as they both study drugs and how they are formulated and how drugs go through clinical research. I received my degree from UBC (a respected university I think) if that makes any difference.

I am interested in completing a higher level of education but only after a few years of working. This point I am going to stick to as I want to experience something other than University/student life.

You have a UBC Pharmacology degree!? That means you are super smart with a high GPA! Why not med school, dentistry, etc? If you're in UBC Pharmacology, you must be an excellent student (or else you wouldn't have the pharmacology degree)!
Most UBC Pharmacology students tend to have co-op at some of the most pretigious companies in the USA since the UBC Pharmacology students are some of the smartest. Do you have co-op experience?

Unfortunately I decided against a co-op while in University and I guess I am paying for the price now. This really seems at odds with me as I didn't expect that I'd have any trouble finding a position in a pharmaceutical company working somewhere in the clinical research pipeline. I understand I only have a Bachelors degree and this limits me, but at the same time I would like to work a couple of years just to know how a job feels.
Returning to the topic, is it better for me to look in Toronto because any position I apply for from Vancouver just seems to be overlooked.
